Designer/Drafter

Description:
The Designer/Drafter will be responsible for reverse engineering existing products for establishment of 3D CAD models and drawing documentation for the organization. There will also be a need to develop new product designs from concept through prototyping and ultimately production. This position will be utilizing CREO 4.0 and SolidWorks 2017 modeling software for these activities.

MAJOR JOB RESONSIBILITIES
Measure existing products from inventory and develop 3D CAD models for those items while also creating 2D drawing packages for their individual components.
Works closely with the Development Engineers to design new products for the category as well as designing product extensions, all at the direction of the Product Manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of CAD 3-D Modeling software such as Creo 4.0 and SolidWorks 2017
Strong knowledge of the detailed design of components from metal tube bending, metal stamping, plastic molding, and polyester fabric manufacturing. Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team
Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written)
Ability to think in such a way as to produce new concepts or ideas
Ability to maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail, meeting aggressive project deadlines
Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements
Minimum 2-year technical degree; Engineering Technician or technical drafting/engineering preferred

Years of Relevant Work Experience
3+ years in a product development role utilizing 3-D modeling; consumer product experience a plus
Experience in a production environment including mechanical fabrication, finishing/painting, and packaging a plus

This position is located primarily in an office environment, located next to a manufacturing plant. At times the associate is required to sit for long periods of time, but there are instances of working in the department's prototyping lab.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate may need the ability to lift and carry loads up to 20 pounds.
Upon occasion, the associate may be exposed to a manufacturing environment and required to wear personal protective equipment.
