Satellite Mission Assurance Engineer

Description:
Chipton Ross is seeking a Satellite Mission Assurance Engineer for a direct position in Centennial, CO.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Provide proactive and pragmatic mission assurance engineering support as part of an integrated satellite project team.
" Support projects to ensure that they are delivering to contractual mission assurance requirements and applicable plans.
" Collect, document and present, as required, mission assurance related information.
" Support project teams in management of discrepancies and bugs, working with the integrated satellite project team to address and close.
" Support project teams in the management of engineering changes.
" Manage and process requests for waiver and deviation of requirements in conjunction with the satellite system engineers, and wider project team.
" Support mandatory inspection points as needed, involving review of documentation and general verification of the status.
" Liaise with all levels of project team and engineering staff on mission assurance related matters and support other teams / disciplines as necessary.
" Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve engineering problems.
" Identify deviations from quality standards and provide guidance and mitigation.
" Ensure effective quality control processes are being used and tracked
" Chair Program Material Review and Failure Review Boards.
" Monitor and support corrective actions, assure appropriate preventive action prior to approval
" Lead Program Parts, Material and Process Control Board (PMPCB), provide minutes, and communicate results as needed.
" Perform other duties as assigned or required.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
" Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
" Technical background working in an environment in which mission assurance is a major consideration.
" Experience with Failure Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) analysis and testing.
" Experience with Failure Modes Effects and Criticality (FMECA) analysis.
" Be able to assess space parts levels, compare to requirements, and set up test plans for deltas.
" Be able to assist with incoming electro-mechanical receiving inspection including review of space parts testing certification and acceptability.
" Experience with quality management of hardware design, mechanical design, software design and production/flight hardware.
" Experience with AS9100 or similar QA standards or methodologies.
" Ability to understand projects are scalable based on customer needs and requirements.
" Experience in space technologies or similar engineering background would be preferable.
" Experience in a project led design and development environment.
" A working understanding of some of the following technologies/disciplines would be an advantage: analogue / digital electronics and components, satellite integration and test
" Familiarity with the satellite system life cycle, including launch, commissioning and operations.
" Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
" Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
" Must be able to work extended hours as required.
Essential Qualifications

May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.

Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals; the capability of representing the organization as a prime technical contact;

and, the ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals. Must be customer focused and able to work on a self- initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.

A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium, and invited and/or participated on an engineering review panel are desirable.
