What You’ll Do:

Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Lead engineer Staff – team lead, develops schedule and budget, able to size HVAC and CW systems based off environmental requirements, verifies design meets ABS, USN, and MIL standards, develops conceptual layouts of HVAC and CW designs. Conducts preliminary calcs to verify system design. Reviews HVAC design and analysis. Aids in the development of ship insulation design. Develops HVAC Ship Design Criteria Manual and requirements that feed into HVAC design. Interacts with customer.
Engineer sr – HVAC design– determines CW, A/C demand, air flow requirements, sizes Cooling and heating equipment based off results of HVAC analysis engineer. Capabilities include conduction of cooling analysis using psychometric charts and ASHRAE fundamentals. Verification of Rate of Change requirements. Knowledge of Marlo Metrics for conducting cooling system performance a plus. Develops duct routing on the ship. Provides sizing and placement of Heaters, Valves, and Controllers. Capable of designing intake and exhaust plenums for HVAC systems.
Engineer sr – HVAC analysis – conducts cooling and heating analysis using the LM HVAC MATLAB code, determines transmission loads, sensible and latent loads, winter heating and heating light loads parameters. Works with other disciplines to obtain information needed to conduct the cooling and heating analysis. Conducts pressure drop analysis of duct routing and weather openings at a preliminary level to feed into detailed design.
 

What You’ll Need:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree combined with 4 + years of relevant experience; or Master’s Degree combined with 2 + years of relevant experience
