Materials, Process, and Physics Enigneer (Metals)

Description:
Defines requirements for materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture of products. Ability to lead production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes. Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Promotes standardization across business activities. Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Ability to lead development and qualification of new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate. Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conducts complex analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts or processes. Implements corrective and preventive actions. Ability to lead, design, development and qualification of sophisticated computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements. Works under minimal supervision.

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT QUALIFICATIONS…
Assignment will support the Chinook program. Must have experience in applied knowledge of metallic materials in order to develop, select, or recommend materials that meet the environmental, regulatory, and design requirements of Rotorcraft products. Must be able to interpret material and process specifications in order to provide clarification and ensure specification intent is met. Must be able to review and or approve new and revised engineering documents/drawings by analyzing proposed changes in order to assess the impact on aircraft products and assemblies. (e.g., material specifications, process specifications, part standards, support specifications, manufacturing planning, industry/military standards) Apply engineering knowledge in order to write engineering specifications and develop projects to resolve problems and improve manufacturing processes (e.g., time, cost, etc.). Ensures application of best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools. Provide technical design support to program integrated product teams. Provide production shop support to disposition non-conformances and support program production needs. Provide technical support to suppliers as directed by program. Communicate with customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to exchange technical data. Must possess strong technical background in metallic aerospace materials and processes. Background should include knowledge of ferrous metallurgy, steel making processes, corrosion principles, Non-Destructive Evaluation Processes. Must be able to write technical papers summarizing results of investigations. Must be able to effectively communicate and be proficient with Information Technology tools.

Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Must be US Person for purposes of Export Compliance.
