STS AeroStaff Services is hiring Aircraft MEL Controllers for open positions in Long Island City, New York.

Job Summary:

The Minimum Equipment List Controller reports to the Minimum Equipment List Program
Manager. This position interacts with regulatory authorities, business partners and internal
customers such as Technical Operations, System Operations and Flight Operations to provide
subject matter expertise, technical manual authoring and revision service of the fleet, Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), and Non Essential Equipment and Furnishings List (NEF) manuals in compliance with the company and regulatory guidelines. The MEL Controller provides cost avoidance relating to additional parts, tooling, manpower that would be necessary due to out of service events and delays incurred form inoperative equipment and furnishings.

Job Duties:

• Point of contact for MEL Program manuals, responsible for administering manual change requests that include the revision, review, and approval process
• Coordinate MEL, CDL and NEF revisions based on input from Technical Operations, System Operations, Flight Operations, Dispatch, and to ensure changes meet regulatory requirements
• Interact with the FAA Principal Inspectors to ensure compliance with Operations Specifications, Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL)
• Assist with the facilitation of the MEL Review Board to include scheduling, review of FAA revisions, MEL IT requests and provide status updates of revisions in work
• Participate in industry conferences, including FAA Flight Operations Evaluation Board (FOEB), Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) Policy Letter and business partner meetings for software and other products

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Arbortext Editor
• Knowledge of Airbus and Embraer aircraft fleet types preferred
• Proficient in use of Airlines 4 America (A4A) Spec 100, CFRs, airworthiness requirements and industry standards
• Keep crew leaders and others informed as appropriate; conveys ideas and information clearly in both written and verbal communication
• Ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Ability to multi task and work under pressure in a dynamic environment
• Knowledge of Maintenance & Engineering systems preferred
• Knowledge of Sabre/FliteTrac preferred

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
• Degree in Aviation Maintenance Management or Engineering preferred
• Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airman Certificate, Airframe and Powerplant Rating preferred; Valid Federal Communications Commission (FCC) General Radiotelephone license preferred
• Ten (10) years’ experience on commercial Part 121 aircraft or one of the following: six (6) years’ of military equivalent experience; ten (10) years of Part 91, 125 or 135 experience
• Two (2) years’ previous leadership experience in Maintenance environment preferred
• Prior Maintenance Control, Dispatch or Pilot experience considered
• Familiar with special qualifications such as Airworthiness release, CAT III authorization, RVSM and Quality Control RII preferred
• Able to work a flexible schedule
• Valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States preferred
• Must obtain local airport ID (SIDA)
• Regular attendance and punctuality

• Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
• Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
• Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
• When working or traveling on client flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
