Maintainability Engineer III

Description:
1) Maintainability Predictions in accordance with MIL-HDBK-472, and 2) Maintainability Analysis Reports to include conducting maintenance studies using MIL-HDBK-470A criteria to assess impact to Accessibility, Human Factors, Preventive Maintenance as a result of aircraft modifications. Catia skills highly desirable.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coordinate and conduct maintenance program development activities in support of the scheduled maintenance program for existing or future aircraft programs maintenance tasks, maintenance skills, manning and documentation procedures, including off-sight presentations/meetings.
2. Evaluate fleet data to determine the feasibility of incorporating mechanical, materials, and/or procedural advancements that improve aircraft availability or the technicians ability to perform scheduled or corrective maintenance.
3. Evaluate methods that lead to the reduction of expended task man-hours and needed support equipment to affect maximum aircraft availability with minimum maintenance resources.
4. Utilize departmental, company, and industry resources to the maximum in developing maintenance practices for aircraft.
5. Coordinate the evaluation of current maintenance practices or suggestions to determine their feasibility/practicality for application to the fleet. Present Maintenance Program changes to the Customer based boards for review, acceptance and application to fleet inspection schedules.
6. Maintain liaison with maintainability/logistics groups, within the aircraft and aerospace industry, to stay abreast of new developments, component designs, and processes that may be applicable to maintainability functions and directly benefit scheduled maintenance programs.
7. Must independently exercise self-policing practices to ensure timely, effective follow-through and close-out of assigned tasks. Inform cognizant individuals of obstacles that hinder a successful conclusion.
8. Coordinate and lead major project activities. Review work of team members for technical and grammatical accuracy.
9. Perform dispatch reliability and aircraft availability information review and calculations.
10. Represent Maintainability Engineering in dealing with Regulatory bodies and officials.

Other Requirements:
1. Knowledge of aircraft inspection programs, Federal Aviation Regulations, aircraft systems and technical manuals including maintenance record systems required.
2. Proficient knowledge of MSG-3 Maintenance Program Development process.

Experience/Education Required
Bachelors degree in aviation maintenance, engineering technology, or a related curriculum; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A&P license preferred.

Seven years of related aircraft maintenance and operational experience required or equivalent aircraft experience.
