Actively seeking a Program Quality Engineer/Mission Assurance for our client in Mesa, AZ

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified professional individual to fill the role of Mission Assurance Quality Engineer. The candidate shall possess 5+ years of experience in Aerospace/Defense industry. The preferred candidate has demonstrated experience with NASA, (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), or NRL, (Naval Research Laboratory) spaceflight Hardware development.

Among other existing activities, the successful candidate will help lead the wide spectrum of mission quality assurance activities required throughout the product life cycle, (hardware development phases, testing activities through witnessing inspections and test, reviewing and approving manufacturing procedures, designs, requirements for subcontractors, participating in Program and Technical Reviews,
Change Control, Change Implementation, and Material Review Boards, Failure Investigation, Root Cause and Corrective/Preventative Action teams, hosting customer audits, and presenting hardware and manufacturing /quality documentation for customer review and acceptance, and timely ensure completion of CDRLs/SDRLs to meet company delivery commitments. The candidate will be an active member of the Proposals cross-functional team and responsible for reviewing customer contractual flow-downs, timely budget, the corresponding required Mission Assurance Quality Engineering activities, and document the basis of estimate in the required proposals systems. Supporting other quality and mission assurance activities, such as improving the Quality Management System, reporting mission assurance Quality KPIs, and drive required improvements working with cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Facilitate compliance to applicable internal and external requirements during both the development cycle and production phase for various defense and military related products.
• Collaborates with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Program Management among other functions to ensure that delivery schedules are maintained with quality products in support of the company operating plan.
• Works with the program teams to provide quality engineering support for various products that are either in production, or in development leading to near term production.
• Identifies customer requirements in contractual documentation and ensures the project fulfills those requirements.
• Develops, monitors, and implements product quality plans to ensure that specifications and customer contractual requirements and expectations are met.
• Tracks and reports Program Quality KPIs
• Works with Integrated Product Teams in quality improvement initiatives.
• Generates and reviews First Article Inspection reports
• Analyze data and drive process improvements
• Review and/or develop inspection plans based upon statistical methods and customer requirements
• Review data and statistical analysis to assess process capability to meet required standards and specifications
• Uses risk mitigation tools such as PFMEA, process and product quality audits, among other tools
• Perform independent risk assessments on Mission Assurance issues and communicate issues and findings
• Utilize Cost of Poor-Quality data to improve yields, reduce manufacturing rework, improve work instructions and employee on the job training with focus on skills development.

Competencies:
• Knowledge and experience using 8D corrective action methodology and conducting process audits.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities, sound judgement coupled with effective decision-making skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting challenging deadlines.
• Strong work ethic with a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
• Avid advocate, influencer, and driver of Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving processes, and continuous improvement
• Preponderant role model and builder of a culture that reinforces compliance to internal command media
• Track record of delivering results in a high paced and constantly changing environment
• Experience using Lean Six Sigma Tools, Visual Daily Management, 5Why, among others.

Requirements, Education & Skills:
• BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Physics).
• Customer, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality Engineering experience in the Aerospace and /or Defense Industries.
• Experience with AS9100 / ISO 9000 quality management systems, corrective and preventative action, CDRLs. NDT and MIL-STD-1916.
• Ability to incorporate customer and product requirements into quality assurance systems and documents (Control Plans, SPC, Acceptance tests).
• ASQ Certification is desirable.
• Business traveling up to 10% if required to support Customers or Suppliers related quality activities.

Preferred Additional Skills:
• Space Systems engineering experience with hardware development processes
• In depth knowledge of quality and reliability methods and procedures for hardware and software systems as they apply to the aerospace or electronic industry.
• Experience with NASA, J-STD and IPC standard implementation
• Experience with soldering, J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610
• Possess a good understanding of statistics, with particular emphasis on process control, sample selection and measurement systems.
• Experience in quality or project engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth understanding of GD & T
