Avionics Engineer

Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides support to the Air Force’s Life Cycle Management Center’s (AFLCMC) Technical Engineering Services Directorate (AFLCMC/EZ) in conducting an analysis of the known Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) and cyber risks associated with positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) avionics onboard USAF aircraft. The engineer will contribute to AFLCMC/EZ’s effort to analyze NAVWAR and cyber risk associated with PNT subsystems for USAF aircraft. The engineer will work daily with Government employee PNT technical experts and cyber risk assessment specialists. The engineer will frequently be called on by the AFLCMC/EZ Government customer to facilitate technical meetings and support the development of cyber and NAVWAR risk assessment briefings.
Responsible for collaborating with Government employees to conduct NAVWAR and cyber risk analyses for PNT avionics subsystems. The engineer will facilitate risk analysis activities both within AFLCMC/EZ and in outreach activities with USAF aircraft System Program Offices (SPOs) and technical centers of excellence across DoD. Responsible for the day-to-day execution of NAVWAR and cyber risk analysis and reporting activities under the oversight of AFLCMC/EZ Government employees. Facilitates the planning and execution of technical interchanges associated with avionics cyber risk analyses.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
5 years of military or commercial avionics experience
5 years of experience as a DoD employee or contractor
Excellent planning and organizational skills, both in terms of task execution tracking and task planning
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Active TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance
3 years of experience at an AF Product/Logistics Center, or similar US Army/US Navy Center, assigned to a System Program Office; or 3 years of experience in the AFLCMC Engineering Directorate
Experience with industry standard or DoD operational risk management practices
Familiarity with the RMF as it applies to avionics subsystems
Level II DAWIA Certification in Engineering, Test and Evaluation, Information Technology, Program Management
Experience as an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or a similar position

TRAVEL: 10%

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field. Applicants with electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, operations research, mathematics, or statistics will be considered as well.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Applicants responding to this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements by currently possessing the ability to view classified government information.
