Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:
Location: Cape Canaveral, FL
Duration: 1 Year Contract
Pay Rate: DOE
Shift: 9/80 (must be able to work extended hours, off shifts and weekends)
Overtime: Exempt
Per Diem Split: Yes (if eligible)

Job Description:
- This engineering function provides Mechanical design, for Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) systems (Transportation & Handling structures and Personnel access).
- Develops system, mechanism and component model designs and drawings to satisfy overall requirements.
- The position requires significant mechanical design and drafting capability.
- Must have the capability to perform optimize designs for manufacturing, producibility and performance.
- Develop design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle performance.
- Generates engineering drawings as well as assembly and testing requirements.
- Tasks may involve new designs or modifications to existing designs.
- The individual is expected to work collaboratively with mechanical engineers as well as representatives from Cape Canaveral Launch Operations.

Basic Requirements
-Requires a Mechanical Design degree from an accredited university and 10+ years' experience in mechanical design field
-Proficient with mechanical design utilizing Siemens NX and CREO
-Proficient with structural design and mechanisms
-Goal oriented with an acute attention to detail
-A team player with the ability to adapt within a dynamic working environment
-Ability to work extended hours, off shifts and weekends
