Gateway Integration & Test Engineer

Description:
assist in systems integration, script and execute test procedures using a combination of proprietary and commercial languages to facilitate testing and validating new systems and services. Candidates must be familiar with: scripting and test automation; new subsystem hardware/software integration and deployments; testing of hardware and software telephony systems; Wireshark or similar protocol analyzer; working with multiple operating systems with an emphasis on Linux platforms; isolating call processing issues within and across subsystems; reporting and validating defects, documenting results; and driving issues to closure.

Candidates must be able to create reliable and robust products, interested in the success of their work, and highly self-reliant. Candidates knowledgeable with telephony protocols such as GRE/IPSEC, UDP-TCP/IP, GSM, VOIP, and SIP, and familiar with reading and developing call flow diagrams highly preferred. In addition, candidates must be able to work as an individual contributor and as a team member.

Essential Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Work collaboratively with software, hardware, and system development engineers
Research and implement hardware upgrades of ground infrastructure and test systems
Integrate, maintain and operate gateway and lab hardware and software systems
Recreate reported software and/or hardware non-conformances using test infrastructure
Assist with design, implementation, and maintenance of automated test system software
Identify and development processes, procedures, tools and/or scripts to maximize system uptime and operational efficiency
Identify test, programmatic and services implementation risks and issues
Assist in the mitigation of risks and/issues identified
Decompose requirements into verifiable test objectives
Develop and maintain test plans and procedures
Develop, maintain and execute test scripts for feature, defect and regression testing
Analyze test results, generate and present reports based on test execution and analysis
Recreate and isolate reported software and/or hardware defects using test infrastructure and document non-compliances
Conduct on-site customer acceptance tests
Update and maintain technical product documentation
Collaborate with team members across various functional disciplines to ensure high product quality
Minimum Requirements

BS degree in engineering or related technical field experience
Experience developing software in C, C++, C#, Java, Python and/or other computer languages
Experience in network protocols such as GRE/IPSEC, UDP-TCP/IP
Experience in configuring firewalls, network switches or routers
Providing high quality, cost effective system integration, test and support services
Drive toward continuous innovation, adding-value, reducing cycle time and cost
Developing professionally, learning and sharing knowledge with others
Expertise with the Microsoft Windows and Office product suite
Strong written communication skills
Results driven with strong sense of ownership
Ability to work well both independently and in team structures
Interest in test automation systems development
Willing and able to travel up to 15 days annually
Willing and able to be on-call to support operational issues
Written and spoken proficiency in English is required
U.S citizenship required


Desirable Abilities and Skills

Demonstrated systems troubleshooting experience
Demonstrated systems integration experience
Expertise with the Linux and/or Unix operating systems extremely beneficial
Exposure to laboratory test equipment (network analyzers, state machine driven traffic simulators, protocol analyzers, etc.)
Knowledgeable with software management tools (JIRA, Bamboo, etc.)
Exposure to Agile software development process is beneficial
Knowledgeable with high-availability software and hardware systems
Knowledgeable about machine virtualization, specifically VMware Desktop and ESXi
Knowledgeable with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and/or SQL Server
