Electrical & Mechanical Technician - Protobuild


PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking for an Electrical & Mechanical (Protobuild) technician in Portland, OR.

The primary function of an Electrical and Mechanical technician at Protobuild is to lay out, build, update, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production mechanical and electrical systems, components and power take off accessories, including chassis and cab wiring & clipping, axles, engines, cabs, chassis, and electrical systems. The expectation is that the potential candidate will have the adequate skills to be able to perform mechanical and electrical updates.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical system updates on client’s PVE test vehicles (Class 5-8). Including but not limited to; ground up builds, vehicles updates, and C-Sample plant builds.
  • Working with other technicians and engineers to solve build related issues and document them.
  • Document all build related updates with the DAVE Tool and all build related issues within Issue Tracker to insure a quality handoff to customer.
  • Diagnose issues associated with vehicle electrical system hardware, wiring & software, and update required hardware.
  • Participate in shop huddles and meetings as required.

Insure all vehicles are safe to operate, and the shop safety is #1 priority.
  • Minimum five years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical system repairs, maintenance, and servicing of commercial vehicles is required.
  • Associates Degree or Trade School Certification in Automotive or Diesel Technology is preferred but not required.
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with commercial vehicle repair & service with emphasis on, Drive Train, Cab, Chassis, Mechatronics electrical systems, including Mulit-Plexing systems are required.
  • Basic understanding of the commercial vehicle Mechanical systems are required.
  • Experience in commercial vehicle testing is highly desired, but not a must.
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Duty & Medium Duty Detroit and Cummins engines and after treatment systems are highly desired.
  • Proficiency with client’s computer systems including DAVE Tool, ShopTech, and ViewCad is preferred.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools such as Service Link, Cummins InSite, Drumroll, WABCO ToolBox, ect is high desired.
  • Potential candidate must be well organized, extremely detail oriented, ambitious, authentic, and be able to work independently and/or in team settings.
