Lab Technician - Maintenance

Description:
Overview
Maintain, update laboratory equipment to insure continuous operation of laboratory testing.

Assist / Perform laboratory tests, including set-up, monitoring, measurement, data collection and reporting under guidance of lab Engineers in a test laboratory. 

Responsibilities
Laboratory maintenance and updates.

  • Organize the calibration of the Environment lab equipment.
  • Standardize the Test Bench set-up to facilitate usage and improve maintenance.
  • Create a controlled database for all the test benches, including B.O.M, Software rev level.
  • Work with Methods & Tools (M&T) team to develop test environment solutions to enable Design & Process Validation (DV/PV)
  • Contribute to the improvement of the laboratory’s tools such as: Instruction sheets, logs, development and validation tools, process automation.
  • Minimize test cycle times.
  • Input to work instructions for test houses to enable efficient transfer of test equipment
  • Support building and implementation of robust and efficient automated test benches


Laboratory testing

  • Realize the test (electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability) in the standard time and in line with the instruction sheet (test specification)
  • In case of difficulty, try to solve it by him/or herself or with support if needed (team leader, validation dept manager, validation engineer, project team member…). Apply the QRQC methodology
  • Input into writing of the test report taking into account the real test conditions, use pictures for more comprehension.
  • Contribute to product problems solving, support 5W2H / PDCA.
  • Police parts logistics and correct archive the parts after test (bags, labels, boxes, pallets).
  • Coordinate planning for the planned testing and allocated resources (chambers, tools, benches,…).
  • Coordinate the specific tools needed for the validation (test specification and follow-up) whenever they are done inside or external of the company.
  • Carry out all work to comply with Quality Management System and Validation Engineering Processes e.g. ASPICE, ISO/IATF16949.
  • Execution of testing using lab equipment (using thermal chambers, IPx) as per test specification.
  • Safety focussed and dedicated to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Report testing status to the val engineer responsible on a regular basis (QRQC, 5mm…)
  • Contribute to test reports, peer-reviews of data and follow up
  • Participate in lessons learned across the various projects
  • Warranty parts traceability, storage and disposition.
  • Coordinate logistics of test racks from & to laboratory and other laboratories worldwide.
  • Track all equipment sent off site ie Tracking number to be kept on file.
  • Request RMA/DAT from Rio Bravo by provide product serial # and Qty
  • Ensure parts have identification label and Shipping data
  • Ensure all warranty information captured (VIN#, MY, Repair date, Build date, Causal part, 3C’s etc) in the tracker before shipping
  • Dispose (scrapped) the parts according to established retention time following internal and customer Procedures

Qualifications:
  • Min 5 years’ experience and knowledge of test & validation methods in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of automotive electronics systems
  • Proficient with MS Office / Google Suite.


Nice to have

  • Basic knowledge in National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand software - Certified LabVIEW
  • Basic knowledge instrumentation interfacing over PXI, PCI, USB, RS232 & GPIB
  • Basic knowledge in hardware and peripherals
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents /schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive electronics systems
  • Validation experience with knowledge of test & validation methods
  • Basic knowledge of accelerated life testing
  • Basic knowledge of IATF 16949
  • Spanish is a plus
