Mechanical Engineer III

Description:
Seeking a Mechanical Engineer III for an opening in Anaheim, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, the Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for the mechanical layout and packaging of power conversion equipment and other Navy based electronic systems. This person generates equipment layouts that satisfy system requirements and account for tradeoffs among thermal, mass properties, structural and manufacturing considerations.

1.Interprets customer specifications to define requirements for mechanical designs.
2.Applies the Inventor 3D CAD system to create mechanical layouts and drawings.
3.Develops detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and performs tolerances analysis.
4.Designs interconnecting brackets and support structure between components and subsystems.
5.Supports other mechanical engineers and drafters in conceptual design and preparation of mechanical drawings.
6.Generates project cost estimates and selects components for various designs.
7.Performs thermal and structural analyses under the guidance of lead mechanical engineers.
8.Generates engineering design change orders and performs checking work.
9.Responsible for project budget/schedule adherence.
10.Uses established and well defined engineering procedures.
11.Knowledge of military and commercial standards pertaining to design, testing, hardware, material, and processes a must.
12.Able to work simultaneously on a variety of projects.
13.Takes directions from project engineer or department manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university. Must have at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering.

1.Practical experience with 3-D CAD and analysis software tools.
2.Knowledge of Mil-Specifications and qualification testing.
3.Good communication skills

•Electronics packaging experience and familiarity with Military specifications.
•3D CAD fluency is also a must along with experience with complex systems.
•Rigid flex/bus plane design
•System level design

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
•Electronics Packaging – this is a requirement for ME III and up for me. – ME III and up
•Recent 3d CAD experience (strong preference is Inventor) – ME II and up
•Vault experience or similar and how recently they’ve used it – ME II and up
•PLM experience (preferred, but not mandatory) – ME II and up
•Able to read basic schematics (preferred, but not mandatory) – ME II and up
•Tolerance Analysis – Preferred for ME II and ME III

EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university.

WORK HOURS:
9/80, Day Shift

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
