Design Engineer 3

Description:
This position requires a strong background in Aerospace Engineering/Design with an emphasis on pneumatic, mechanical and electro-mechanical components/assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience in the design, analysis and prototyping of pneumatic fluid control devices such as solenoid and motor operated pneumatic valves. The candidate should have a broad background including work with mechanical devices and subsystems, preferably for use in military or commercial aviation. Knowledge of airborne weapon systems and /or weapon carriage equipment is strongly desirable.

Specialist knowledge regarding the sizing of flow elements, design and operation of high pressure pneumatics, hydraulics, motor actuators and solenoids will be a strong differentiator for candidate selection. Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a fast paced environment as a member of a cross functional team and as an individual contributor.


SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
Minimum BSME, BSAE and 7 to 10 years experience in relevant design/development environment, preferably for military or commercial aviation.

Knowledge of manufacture of mechanical components and assemblies with emphasis in complex electromechanical systems, or large structures

Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. Prior assembly or shop experience is a plus

Must have knowledge of aerospace materials properties and selection as well as processing including Heat Treat and Coatings for aerospace requirements

Must be able to perform basic measurements and simple inspection processes

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in creation of design concepts using hand sketches, and CAD tools.

CAD experience in CATIA or Pro-E a plus

Must be able to perform preliminary flow passage sizing, pressure vessel and structure stress checks and rough sizing calculations by hand. Use of FEA tools is a plus.

Must have experience with MIL-STD documents, reading and interpretation of ASME Y14.5

Must be able to write engineering reports that include analysis and results

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be fluent in written and spoken English

Evidence of accomplishment in self-documentation of work product through technical reports, test reports etc. will be considered as a plus

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is essential
