Technical Publications Engineer
Location: Chula Vista, CA

Job Summary:  Perform technical writing of aircraft after-market technical documentation.

Qualifications:  Must be able to perform each essential function and have education, skills & experience listed below.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

Create technical content for documents such as SRMs, CMMs, AMMs, EMMs, IPCs, IPLs, Service Bulletins. 
Employ technical writing & publication software to create technical content in Simplified Technical English.
Education:

Absolute MINIMUM of 4 year ABET Bachelor Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical or Civil or Structural Engineering.   
Required Technical Writing Experience:

0-to-10 years of Technical Writing experience in aerospace industry creating content for aerospace technical manuals.  
Highly Preferred but Not Mandatory Experience:

Analytical thinking and problem solving in developing maintenance manuals content.
Knowledge of aerospace Tech Publication standards such as S1000D, ispec & ATA as they relate to maintenance manuals.
Technical Illustrating and the use of sketching tools and or artistic ability to hand sketch is a plus.
Parts list and Parts catalog creation by interrogating engineering data such as assembly drawings & models.
Personal and Interpersonal Skills

Strong interpersonal skills with willingness to ask questions & dig for answers. High degree of collaboration is expected.
Demonstrated ability to multitask with strong task orientation and attention to critical details required.
Ability to work independently, be insightful, resourceful & innovative and willing to do whatever work is assigned.
Great verbal & written communication skills with strong command of English language and Simplified Technical English.
Ability to read & understand 2D drawings, 3D solid models, assemblies and maintenance procedures
Preferred But Not Mandatory Tech Pubs & Software Skills:

Arbortext, Adobe Framemaker & PageMaker, IsoDraw, CORENA, Mark-Up languages: SGML, XML, HTML
MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
3DVIA & CATIA (general familiarity) + Familiarity with Team Center + ENOVIA (general familiarity)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required except diploma or certificate for MIN 2 years technical training.
