Embedded S/W Engineer

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Embedded S/W Engineer, in Orlando, FL.


  • Looking for a Software Engineer to develop and maintain real-time embedded software applications.
  • Typical applications are software products related to image processing, target detection and tracking, missile guidance/ navigation/ control algorithms, missile launchers, system control, built-in test, and system communication.
  • Development will be in C and C++ hosted on either a PC or Unix environment and targeted for an embedded processor running either VxWorks or Integrity as the real-time operating system.
  • Familiarity with standard communication busses and protocols including RS-232, RS-422, MIL-STD-1553 and Ethernet is helpful but not required.
  • The candidate will have experience throughout the entire software development life cycle including architecture, design, code implementation, and integration and test.
  • The candidate will be experienced in technical task leadership and/or be a subject matter expert in an area relevant to clients products described in the above paragraph. The candidate will have a strong background in real-time embedded software development along with demonstrated technical leadership.
  • The candidate will be familiar with using source code control and issue tracking tools along with using modern test tools to do unit test and static analysis.
  • An ideal candidate will be able to configure and manage a continuous test environment.
  • Bonus skills would be familiarity with Agile development, Cyber Security, Department of Defense products, board support package and device driver development.
  • Status of DOD clearance required on resumes, with investigation date preferred.
  • For this assignment, The candidate must have at least 10 years of applications design and development experience using C++ and middleware (such as Data Distribution Services).
  • Candidate must possess the ability to analyze the efficiency of software architectures and refine their designs to meet performance goals.
  • Candidate must have significant experience in presenting and describing software designs in reviews (both internally and to customers). 


  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Candidate must have Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with a strong background in Software Development.
  • Candidate will need to be able to sit onsite in Orlando and will be required to wear a mask/ face covering while working
  • Candidate must have Active Secret clearance from the DOD with a complete investigation within the last 5 years.
  • Clearance level and investigation date must be at the top of the resume.
  • Prototyping & analyzing architectures and hardware components to meet performance goals
  • Proficiency with the C++ programming language Middleware such as Data Distribution Services (DDS), or similar inter-communication products
  • Software configuration management
  • Full software life-cycle development
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplined teams


  • It is desired that the candidate has experience with, or knowledge of, one or more skills below:
  • Strong communication ability and experience in conducting reviews, particularly with external customers
  • Ability to suggest alternatives to architecture design
  • Familiarity with design patterns in C++
  • Familiarity with Safety critical Software process, design, and development experience Gitlab Team Foundation Server (TFS)
