Mechanical Engineer Specialist

Job Purpose:
The primary roles for this position are to: participate in satellite communications system development activities
and take direction from a senior level engineer or manager; participate in delivering engineering services
including design, drafting/modeling, testing, and analysis; work alongside peers to drive innovative design
solutions; and complete engineering projects in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner.

Job Duties:
• Develop mechanical and electromechanical systems for satellite communications by designing and
conducting research, testing and documenting manufacturing and assembly methods, and applying
principles of physics and material science
• Assure system and product quality by designing test methods for finished product and system
• Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Troubleshoot design or fabrication problems with mechanical and electromechanical systems, identify
root cause of problems, and develop and implement creative and pragmatic solutions
• Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
• Train current and prospective customers as a subject matter expert
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
• Produce technically sound designs which meet contract requirements, good engineering practices and
solve the customer's needs and/or problems
• Maintain awareness of current state-of-the-art technologies and trends in mechanical engineering and
suggest product improvement ideas
• Travel (up to 25%) may be required as needed, including both domestic and international
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program
• 4+ years related design experience required
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• 3D CAD proficiency, SolidWorks experience required, CSWP preferred
• Knowledge in the use and application of GD&T
• PDM Professional experience is a plus
• RF background is a plus
• Engineer-In-Training designation is a plus
• Machine shop experience is a plus
• Ability to solve non-routine problems by integrating relevant resources
• Ability to work effectively both as an individual contributor and as a member of cross-functional teams
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work with aggressive program schedules
• Ability to prioritize and support multiple tasks
• Candidates must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance upon hire
