Manufacturing Design Engineer

Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer position is part of the ME Design Engineering team and is responsible for providing Electrical / Avionics technical support in the areas of manufacturing, design, development, and testing.

5 Engineers needed

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Take complete ownership of assigned A/C area(s).
2. Approve all tooling required for assigned A/C area(s) creating new Tooling Requests, performing Root Cause Analysis on Non-conformances generated by tooling, and identifying work-arounds for tooling deficiencies.
3. Analyzes statistical data including process capability studies, tests capability studies, and through-put rates.
4. Review and approve all Engineering drawings and models for assigned A/C areas, ensuring parts, assemblies, and/ or installations are manufacturable.
5. Manage all Design for Manufacturability Requests for assigned A/C area(s) reviewing/ creating and approving all internal and external submissions.
6. Review and approve all CR’s (Change Requests) to determine positive/ negative impacts to Production coordinating with the various departments within Honda Aircraft Company.

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
1. Bachelors' degree in Manufacturing Engineer or other related field strongly preferred.
• In lieu of bachelors’ degree, management may elect to consider candidates with a combination of work experience, education, and formal training.
2. 5+ years of directly related work experience within a Manufacturing or Production Engineering design team is required.
3. Previous project engineering and/or project management experience preferred.
4. Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
5. Experience in estimating/ quoting machine/ assembly hours and tooling costs a plus.
6. Experience in supplier selection and management including directing/ addressing supplier concerns from a technical standpoint.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Proven knowledge of wiring harness manufacturing.
2. Proven ability to define standard electrical and avionics methods for installation/testing and the prevention of damage.
3. Proven ability to trouble-shoot defects, manufacturing errors, and time consumption/ learning curve issues to improve shop floor performance.
4. Knowledge of AS9102 processes, procedures, and methods a plus.
5. Knowledge of Garmin Avionics Systems a plus.
6. CATIA V5/V6 experience is a plus.
7. Router/ Work Instruction Creation and Maintenance in an advanced ERP/MRP system
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Teamcenter Manufacturing/ Process Planning creating MBOM’s and BOP’s are a plus.
8. 3D Drawing reviews and approvals for Engineering designs and specifications to ensure manufacturability of detail parts, assemblies, and installations.
9. Ability to analyze a variety of engineering data to help determine how to meet company objectives.
