HPC (High Performance Computing) Engineer

Description:
Primary Responsibilities

• Assume a technical lead position on the Computer Aided Engineering team. Responsible for championing engineering concerns across the Information Technology Services landscape.
• Operating Systems: RHEL, Centos, Suse, Windows
• Configuration, setup and maintenance of numerous air-gapped networks
• Manage daily break/fix scenarios, updates, backups, monitoring and user requests
• Secure and maintain Linux servers according to DFAR requirements
• Create and maintain SOPs and train junior staff
• Patch management
• Hardware troubleshooting
• Monitor ticket queue to ensure tasks are addressed in a timely manner according to priority
• Strong desire to adhere to best practices and provide the highest quality of service and support
• Monitor and maintain system performance, recommend changes and upgrades

Basic Qualifications

• Have history of configuring HPC simulations to leverage parallel computing.
• Speak to the different use cases of CPU vs GPU in a HPC environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of a job scheduler to manage a high demand HPC platform across several engineering teams.
• Familiarization in troubleshooting HPC user job scripts against a wide number of engineering software solutions (Ansys, Matlab, Nastran).
• A thorough understanding of engineering license server functionality (e.g., flexlm) and related troubleshooting.
• Strong working knowledge of RedHat Linux subsystems - SSSD/LDAP/Kerberos against AD, NFS, SELinux, IP Tables, MD devices, LUKS, PAM, GRUB, NFS, CIFS, process management and performance tuning
• Must have a demonstrated high level understanding of Clustering, Infiniband, BeeGFS, RAID systems and server hardware
• Understanding of application and OS security, virus scanning, and patching
• Must be able to demonstrate advanced Bash, Python, Powershell, Ruby or Perl scripting skill
