What You’ll Do:

Design, develop and release fluid power and distributed systems in military ground vehicles.
Develop component designs and mounting provisions for various devices.
Focus will include hydraulics, pneumatics, automatic fire suppression systems and fuel systems while there may be some time spent working in other areas such as steering, braking, shock/vibration isolation, stowage and battery enclosures.
Design subsystems and components to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental and mine blast requirements.
Apply fluid dynamics and hydraulic system classical calculations while also performing fluid subsystem modeling and simulation.
Conduct material selection and finish for commercial, military and aerospace fluid system components, conduct detailed design of fluid system custom components and also generate key characteristics, component specifications and perform component selection for supplier purchased parts.
Support various projects by doing analysis & design, drawing mark-ups, tolerance stacks and generating source data for engineering changes. Write material requests and shop work requests, track delivery and stock of parts, participate in integration reviews, fit checks, and write reports.
Provide support to prototype and production vehicle build and follow-up, technical corrective action formulation, troubleshooting and redesign activities.
Present design concepts and program status to functional and program management.
Perform testing and evaluation of fluid system components in the company hydraulics lab.

What You’ll Need:

10+ years related experience and subject matter expert in area.
Be a self-starter and highly motivated. Experience with managing cross functional projects, leading complex tasks and working in a shop environment is required.
Extensive working knowledge of fluid power systems and demonstrated experience developing fluid system architecture, schematics, analytical models and conducting the analysis to assess performance.
Have experience troubleshooting fluid systems, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions.
Be experienced in working with teams and effective in communicating across many disciplines and functional organizations.
Be able to understand customer needs, formulate subsystem and component requirements, and meet expectations.
Experience with military vehicles, other heavy vehicle platforms or industrial applications of fluid systems is desired.
Have solid modeling experience with NX and Creo and fluency with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup.
Must have the ability to climb into military vehicles.
Strong technical writing and presentation skills are desired.
Ability to travel and work overtime when required.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in hydraulics and fluid systems is a plus combined with 10 + years of relevant work experience.
