Fuel Systems Lead Engineer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Serves as the lead fuel systems engineer for both primary aircraft fuel system and aerial refueling system.
• Coordinates activities of fuel system team members.
• Establishes, tracks, coordinates, and reports fuel system tasking and schedule.
• Provides technical oversight to fuel system suppliers to achieve program goals.
• Perform transient and steady state analysis for fuel systems.
• Plans and supports fuel system development tests and analyzes test data, supports design for manufacturing and maintainability.
• Supports aircraft ground and flight test program, providing fuel system support and troubleshooting.
• Responsible for managing system weight allocation, tracking, and weight reduction initiatives.
• Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with policies, procedures, and work instructions and specific Customer requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and schematics
• Originate fuel system specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of design and development activities
• Work with other Engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system issues and provide technical information
• Prepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviews
• Ensure conformance of products with Engineering design and performance specifications
• Execute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customer quality, cost, and schedule requirements
• Conduct research that test and analyze the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems
• Estimate costs and submit bids for Engineering

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Requires a BS in Technical Field.
10+ Years of experience
o Working knowledge and experience showing compliance with airworthiness regulations applicable to aircraft fuel systems installations including MIL-HDBK-516, or alternately 14 CFR Parts 23 and 25.
o Experience with installation and operational aspects of aircraft fuel systems including integration of fuel system components with the propulsion system, avionics, aircraft electrical system, and the aircraft structure.
o Familiar with component qualification testing including MIL-STD-810G and DO-160.
o Strong technical writing and communications skills.
o Capable of establishing, tracking, coordinating, and statusing project schedules, including resource management.
o Ability to rapidly work with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams
o Previous experience and skills in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test
o Must be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment with emphasizes in rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities
Note: Must be US Citizen as an ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance may be required.
