Stability and Control Engineer

Description:
Here's the Deal
As the Senior Stability & Control Engineer you will report to the VP of Flight Sciences and be responsible for providing detailed stability and control analysis and input to the design of the AS2 supersonic business jet.

On any given day you might:
• Independently address stability and control related issues throughout the vehicle design and test process
• Develop aerodynamic databases needed for Stability and Control
• Identify Stability and Control issues and propose solutions
• Support flight control laws group and the development of aircraft flight control laws
• Develop requirements for low and high-speed wind tunnel tests
• Support S&C wind tunnel tests from planning through execution and final reports
• Provide hinge moment data based on CFD and wind tunnel tests
• Provide input for control surface sizing, deflection angles, and rates
• Contribute to the development of aircraft stability and control requirements that are compatible with civil certification standards (FAR25/CS25)
• Provide inputs to developmental and FAA-approved flight manuals including normal handling characteristics and emergency procedures
• Support stability and control flight testing

We're looking for someone who has:
• A BS in Aeronautics or Aerospace Engineering with more than 6 years of experience (or MS in engineering plus 4 years of experience)
• Experience with the latest industry-standard stability and control and aerodynamic design and analysis tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK and vortex-lattice tools
• Experience working with CFD experts to generate data required for stability and control analyses
• Prior experience performing trade studies related to stability and control including using numerical tools as well as wind tunnel data
• Experience in the creation of aerodynamic stability and control databases
• Knowledge of, and experience with, FAA FAR 25 and EASA CS 25 stability and control regulatory requirements and means of compliance
• Experience with flight and wind tunnel test monitoring and data reduction to support stability and control analysis and certification efforts
• Familiarity in generating documentation to support certification efforts
