Description:
PDS Tech is seeking a Systems Engineer with active DoD Secret Clearance in St. Louis, MO

Job Purpose


Systems Engineers work within an engineering team and are responsible for enabling products from customer requirements in an IPT environment. System Engineers focus on defining customer needs and required functionality early in the development cycle, documenting requirements, then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while considering the complete problem of Operation, Verification, Manufacturing, and Logistics. Systems Engineers integrate all the disciplines and specialty groups into a team effort forming a structured development process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Systems Engineers consider both the business and the technical needs of all customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user needs.
 
A successful Systems Engineer is hands-on and has strong technical and mechanical background. These skills, combined with flexibility, a problem-solving orientation, solid communication skills and attention to detail, enable successful program implementation.
 
Principal Accountabilities

  1. Requirements Development
  2. Perform functional analysis using the systems engineering processes 
  3. Planning of Verification and Validation
  4. Transition to Production
  5. With IPT Leads, supports change management and proposal activity
  6. Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests
  7. With Master Scheduler, develops project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
  8. With Master Scheduler, maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
  9. Contributes to the development and maintenance of the engineering management and risk management plans
  10. Participates in conduct of trade studies
  11. Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  12. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  13. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  14. Interfaces with teams in different parts of the organization, including Information Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain and Finance to foster the integration of data and business processes.

The system engineer is responsible for requirement flow down from the contract to the end item deliverable. Developing the compliance matrix is key to ensuring a successful delivery of product. Noting how each requirement is to be accomplished in relationship to a PDR/CDR environment is key to successful completion of these phases. ​
Education
 
B.S. degree in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.  Master’s degree preferred.  Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
 
Experience and Qualifications
 
  • Three to five years of experience in a Systems or Senior Engineering role
  • Five to seven years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, working with Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Experience with document examination, such as engineering drawings, change orders and specifications to verify conformance.
  • Previous responsibility for developing and executing within budgets
  • Previous exposure to product design, verification testing, and customer support.
  • Previous experience in an IPT environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and suppliers
  • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high quality environment
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


Physical Demands



  • Frequently required to spend long hours sitting at a work stations and using office equipment. 
  • May be required to walk or stand for brief periods
  • May be required to use stairs when elevator is not available
  • May occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds of office supplies and materials 
  • May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch

  • Must have Active Secret Clearance to be considered
