Project Engineer w/Database Management

Description:
Senior Project Engineer

Location: Chula Vista, CA



Job Summary:
•Create a plan to effectively manage the retrofit of several thousand parts on a fleet of aircraft and over 20 airlines
•Using database management, track the progress and completion of parts coming off aircraft, those being refurbished and those being installed
•Measure progress and present status to management and stakeholders
•Work with vendors to track progress and, using knowledge of aircraft parts repairs and refurbishment, troubleshoot schedule and quality issues
•Create, maintain and present status presentation deck to team and management
•Must have understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry


Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following.

•Update/develop/maintain databases (Access, Excel), and create Power Point reports in support of tracking thousands of parts undergoing retro-fit activity on a fleet of more than 200 aircraft operated by over 20 airlines

•Create tracking documents and presentations for technical teams, management and customer; present as needed in periodic review meetings

•Work with vendors to gauge progress, maintain schedule and troubleshoot problems if necessary

•Job functions include using continuous improvement tools, developing work instructions / standard work, and following all regulatory company procedures including thorough recording of all work to ensure traceability


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Requirements:
•Proficiency with MS Project
•Proficiency with MS Excel
•Proficiency with MS PowerPoint
•Proficiency with MS Access
•Basic data analysis capability
•Familiar with SRM, CMM, EM, and AMM technical content and application

Education & Experience:
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of projects with at least 3 years in the aerospace and/or airline industry
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology - mechanical, aero, civil, or materials science preferred - or equivalent experience
•Basic knowledge and understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry

Skills:
•Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels required
•Ability to work with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management personnel and capable of positively interacting in a team environment
•Familiarity with nacelle systems highly desirable
•Have good listening and verbal communication skills
•Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain project plans required
•Ability to coordinate with people in different project teams and functional roles required
•Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal required
•Experience in Risk Management a plus

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
•PMI Project Management Professional certification a plus
