Network Design Engineer

Network Design Engineer
(US Citizenship Required*)
Pittsfield, MA

• Participate in requirements analysis, definition, and management, functional & performance analysis, trade studies, system design, integration, and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system elements direct supervision
• Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
• Support generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
• Develop and evaluate systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
• Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
• Develop professional expertise; apply company policies and procedures to resolve various issues
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
• Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses
• Receives instructions from immediate supervisor; works under general supervision
• Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department
• Resolve problems of moderate scope
• Plan sub tasks for activities described above
• Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
• May have some contact outside Engineering or with external customers
• May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
• May develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systems
• Travel may be required
• Keeps abreast of technology trend

• Required – able to obtain Secret clearance.
• Required – CCENT, with preference on those with a CCNA or CCNP.
• Experience with other areas of IT Design, including Virtual Machines, Storage, Backups, Windows, Linux and/or Application & SW support.
• Familiar with technical standards
• Considerable knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
• Considerable awareness of business objective and Engineering role in achieving
• Considerable knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
• Able to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments
• Show initiative on assignments, exercise independent judgment, and professionally execute projects with little direction
• Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Considerable written and verbal communications skills, communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
• Ability to multi-task
• Builds productive internal/external working relationships
• Able to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design
• Certification in A+, Network+, Security+, CEH, CISSP, etc.
• Experience with other areas of IT Design, including Virtual Machines, Storage, Backups, Windows, Linux and/or Application & SW support.
• Knowledge on what Systems engineering is and how it applies to and differs from the traditional IT specialist role.
• Leadership mentality and career growth expectations.
*US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Cyber Security or a related field plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
