DSP Electrical Engineer

DSP Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities:
• Participate in electrical requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis (timing, power, etc.), design, integration, and verification of electrical components, equipment and systems
• Apply principles and techniques of Electrical Engineering
• Perform electrical engineering root cause analysis for electrical issues, conducts experimental tests, evaluates results to formulate and implement solutions to issues
• Participate in electrical reviews of electrical components, equipment and systems
• Evaluate vendor capability to support product development
• Apply a good understanding of the organizationally defined electrical processes used throughout the lifecycle of the program or project
• Support generation of engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the electrical development life cycle
• Contribute to the research and analysis of data, such as customer design proposal specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
• Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability

Qualifications:
• Strong background in math and Matlab
• Expertise with digital signal processing algorithms for optical coherent communications
• Familiarity with 100-400G modulation schemes, such as PM-BPSK, PM-QPSK, PM-QAM

Preferred:
• Experience with analyzing physical plant/jones matrices, polarization, phase, PMD, CD, OSNR and other impairments along with advanced FEC algorithms are desirable
• Experience with VPI modeling and simulation tools for system analysis and simulation are a plus
• Solid use of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theories
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering processes
• Keeps abreast of technology trends
• Aware of business objective and Engineering role in achieving
• Solid knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
• Solid knowledge in electrical engineering design tools
• Solid written and verbal communications skills
• Understands and begins to apply basic project management principles including IMS, earned value and score cards
• Able to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound electrical engineering design
*US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Master's degree is preferred
