NDT Engineer

Description:
Non-destructive test (NDT) engineer with experience in composite materials, processes, and production manufacturing including out of autoclave processing. The engineer will develop NDT methods and maintain specifications for identification and characterization of composite defects used in evaluating damage tolerance, structural life forecasting, and maintaining structural integrity. The engineer will assist in the development and maintenance of composite defect standards for parts and joints. The engineer must be able to recommend and apply appropriate inspection methods and write clear instructions for each technique.
Develop, substantiate and maintain NDT related procedures and process standards to meet customer requirements and assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Interpret and apply customer, industry, national, and international standards and specifications as appropriate.
Develop NDT defect standards to assist the quality team in inspection.
Work with Design, Stress, and Materials & Process groups to develop and define NDT acceptance criteria to meet damage tolerance requirements for composite structures and joints.
Develop and administer training and examinations as necessary to support qualification and certification of NDT Technicians.
Generate technical reports and presentations. Present findings to Engineering and Upper Level Management.
Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions, applications, and approaches required for meeting business objectives and assuring product integrity.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Work independently and provide technical oversight for all NDT related activities in the absence of the Principal NDT Engineer.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Level III Certification in UT and at least two other methods including IR, LST, RT, PT, or ET. ASNT, NAS 410, A4A Spec 105 or equivalent certification will be considered.
A minimum of five years relevant experience for degreed candidates or 10 years for non-degreed candidates.
At least three years' experience as a Level III with a company performing aerospace (or related) NDT.
Experience with materials, fabrication methods and inspection of aerospace composites.
Experience with technical report writing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong team player.
Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with computer controlled NDT systems is a significant plus.

EDUCATION:
Accredited B.S. degree in Engineering or related applied sciences. Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., in a related discipline may substitute for two years of experience. Relevant technical experience may also be considered in lieu of education.
