Sr. Mechanical Development Engineer

Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Development Engineer
Location: Portland, OR 97217
Duration: 18 Months

One of the world’s leading heavy truck manufacturers is looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join their manufacturing team in designing equipment required to build trucks as well as ensuring the flow, design, process, etc. of the plant will work on that assembly. This would be an opportunity to get exposure to a range of projects working in multiple countries. This will also give exposure to the broad scope of manufacturing.

Project Responsibilities:
• Creating fixture designs, tool designs, layout work, etc. using NX or AutoCAD.
• This will also include supporting workshops and attending meetings.
• 25 % travel required - inside and US and Mexico.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related technical
engineering field and a minimum of 1 year related experience; OR an Associate’s degree and
2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of equipment procurement, logistics and line balancing is preferred.
• Basic to Intermediate level knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) is required. Proficiency in MS Access and MS Project is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools is necessary (error-proofing, process mapping, best practice, standardization, 5S, CI, etc).
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required. Some fluency in
Spanish is preferred.
• The ideal candidate must possess strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple, high-priority projects at one time.
• The candidate should be able to demonstrate time management skills, knowledge of budget management, project management, and scheduling, and successful completion of tasks and deadlines.
• The successful candidate will exhibit the following attributes: professional demeanor with strong work ethics, enthusiasm and accountability for personal work, positive attitude and approach toward team building.
• Strong time management and organizational skills as well as excellent communication skills will also be a key to success in this role.
• Team oriented professional with strong problem solving, people and communication skills, and ability to work across organizational, language and cultural boundaries is required.
• Strong multi-tasking, organization and project management skills are essential to the job.
