Air Safety Investigator

We are currently searching for the right talent to fill this opportunity:

Air Safety Investigator

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate within a cross section of program disciplines in a very dynamic, fast-paced development and test environment to promote mishap prevention
• Develop and manage safety requirements in a collaborative environment early in the design process through the life-cycle of the product/program, with specific emphasis on test operations
• Perform critical safety engineering activities to support ground and flight test/launch preparation and operations, to include test hazard analyses, development of test procedures, and active participation in Ground/Flight Test Readiness Reviews
• Perform safety risk management activities in a highly dynamic operational/test environment
• Provide flight and ground test operations safety support during testing, to include active participation in pretest briefs/debriefs, after action reviews, and develop Pre-Mishap Plans and notification procedures
• Evaluate customer/operational needs and requirements specifications to develop safety requirements, constraints, and operating limits
• Review engineering design specifications, test operations, change proposals, deficiency reports, and deviation/waiver requests for potential flight test safety impacts
• Conduct periodic safety survey audits and assessments
• Lead/Participate in incident investigations and root cause/corrective action analyses
• Lead/Facilitate aircraft impound investigations
• Interface with customer and program subject matter experts
• Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for government/customer safety boards, program design reviews, and test/mission readiness reviews
• Deliver oral and written presentations to peers, program management, senior leadership, customer, and regulatory agencies

Qualification:
• Active Secret Security Clearance is required to start.
• Must be willing and able to travel on a roating schedule approximately 50% if required.
*U.S. Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:
• Technical Bachelor’s Degree combined with approximately 14+ years of related work experience; or a Master’s Degree combined with approximately 12+ years of experience; or PhD combined with approximately 9+ years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
