Flight Test Design

Description:
The Engineer, Flight Test position is responsible for the design, development, and coordination equipment to support Flight Test operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Designs, develops, coordinates, equipment, and Installations, to support Flight Test operations. Typical equipment and installations including ballast, data booms, cockpit displays, antennas, racks, and various transducers (acceleration, pressure, temperature, displacement, etc.).
2. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.
3. Designs structural products and components of products, as well as Systems level integration, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system to include: concept, design, fabrication, installation, and operation.
4. Examines engineering drawings and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity in design; completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy; correctness of materials and processes; conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and practicability; and economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
5. Supports fabrication and installation of test equipment.
6. Resolves all issues related to design, documentation, procurement, fabrication, and installation.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
1. Bachelors’ degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology other related field preferred.
2. 5 years’ experience in aerospace design and testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Proficient in 3D multiple component designs and 2D fully dimensional and tolerance drawings. CATIA V5, PLM systems, TeamCenter strongly preferred.
2. Strong Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) strongly preferred.
3. Strong computer operating systems skills.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
6. Experience with aircraft data acquisition systems.
7. Experience with FAA regulations.
8. Excellent analytical skills.
