Job Description:
The engineer will prepare and coordinate predominantly electrical design, construction and troubleshoot interfaces for launch facilities electrical system and support equipment installations at CCAFS for Company. The successful candidate shall be required to produce accurate working schematics and detailed design drawings as well as generate validating electrical analysis calculations. She will perform field walk-downs and review and revise electronic CAD files from a variety of native drawing databases to produce accurate drawings for implementation of the project. Candidate will ensure all projects are maintained on implementation scheduled and within established engineering budgets.
May conduct feasibility studies, determine engineering criteria or manpower and cost estimates for projects or tasks or perform analyses to develop design/redesign options, improvements or recommendations for systems and components. Evaluate components for life assessment and market requirements. Researches, develops, designs and tests electrical components, equipment, systems and networks. Actively supports system operation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
The position requires knowledge of electrical design of commercial medium voltage equipment and systems, drafting practices as well as sound practical knowledge of engineering principles, practices and industry standards including NFPA 70e and NEC codes.
Candidate shall have the ability to successfully interface with contractor personnel which requires onsite observation and direct contact in the fields working with Union Workforce personnel. Duties shall include but not be limited to contractor walk-downs, request for information evaluation and resolution, statements of work and field work directives development.
The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience building and/or modifying facilities electrical systems. Also, s/he should have at least 5 yrs. of recent Autodesk AutoCAD experience (version 2013 or newer).

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Safety to Self and Others: Must be able to perform all assigned tasks in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, the worker may be exposed to repetitive motion injuries due to keyboarding or to cuts and bruises due to typical office accidents. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the worker is regularly required to use computer and office equipment and to use hands to type, manipulate, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The worker frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The worker is occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The worker must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close ?vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises. Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the worker is regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing and use interpersonal skills. The worker is regularly required to prioritize, multitask, analyze, interpret, coordinate, compile, evaluate, synthesize, compute, problem solve, concentrate, and think critically. The worker is occasionally required to copy, instruct, and negotiate. Judgment and Decision-Making: Work is regularly assigned by self, supervisor, and departmental staff. While performing the duties of this job, the worker is regularly required to exercise prudent judgment, decision making, and analytical skills to determine manner and operational steps necessary to properly handle inquiries and perform daily tasks within professional standards. Security Clearance / International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR). Therefore, all applicants must be U. S. Persons as defined in ITAR 120. 15 (e. g. , U. S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or protected individual. Requires a bachelor?s degree and 6-10 years of experience (for external candidates only). Develops solutions to complex engineering/scientific problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and modification of standard techniques and analytical methods. Viewed as an expert in the field within the organization. Possibly an emerging authority in the company. Guides the successful completion of major programs and projects; may function in a project leadership role. May be a CRE for complex components. Poor decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational/program objectives. Work is performed independently. Exercises considerable latitude in determining the technical objective of the assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Provides mentorship to others to further their discipline or the company.
