Quality Assurance Specialist

Description:
• Execute the organizational Plan and lead the continuous improvement activities in targeted areas of the organization.
• Provide quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners and targeted departments of the organization.
• Provide interface and expertise between Operations and Quality. This includes management and investigation of escapes, leading Quality Clinic activity, and product and process improvement initiatives.
• Provide expertise in Quality Assurance and process improvement tools and methods to support the site in continuous improvement.
• Ability to lead the internal Quality System Audit program for the organization; develop, implement and audit of inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures / work instructions.
• Facilitate Investigation and elimination of causes of quality problems and follow up on corrective actions. Ability to lead small teams.
• Develop and analyze statistical data and product / process performance to recommend and implement improvements.
• Provide support in development and evaluation of process capability (CPK), process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions and process audits with the objective of improving process performance and capability.
• Provide Quality expertise for identification of customer expectations, manufacturing support, and initiation and management of product in process and final inspection points/activity.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college / university in appropriate discipline (Engineering / Science / Technology), or equivalent commensurate experience.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
The preferred candidate will have, at a minimum, 5 years of Quality Engineering or related experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

The following skills/knowledge are preferred:
• Analytical Problem Solving - Understands problem solving methods – i.e. 8D, root cause analysis, Apollo etc. – and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems.
• Have strong knowledge of the associated tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Characteristic Matrix, Gage Capability, Process Capability, Process Flow, Preventive Maintenance, Machine Runoff, etc.
• Quality Management Systems - Understanding of the standards, implementation and certification process of Quality Management Systems such as AS/EN9100, ISO-9001;
understands the requirements of customer-specific Quality System certification programs.
• Cost of Quality - Understanding the concept of Cost of Quality and specifically of the Cost of Non-Conformance.
• Use Cost of Quality reports to identify opportunities for improvement and waste reduction.
• The ability to solve problems of typical scope and complexity.
• Leadership - Demonstrated ability to lead small teams. Good presentation skills.
