Description:
Quality Engineer (Metal's Material)

We are supporting one of our Business Partners by finding talent for the Warren, MI location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Promote safety to all team members, customers, and suppliers
• Operates PC-based software programs including but not limited to: Motic Images, Microsoft Word, Excel, Mini Tab, and PCDMIS
• Support product launches, Engineering changes and/or improvement changes at the customer location and ensures Quality systems are updated to compliance
• Assists in training new Quality employees in all aspects of Quality inspections and document training with education and Training sign-in sheets
• Monitor floor to ensure the product is produced to customer specification and inspection activities are being conducted in accordance with control plan requirements
• Help to establish breakpoint for non-conforming material
• Lead problem-solving activities for customer issues and provide the customer with complete 8D
• Issue of RMA for customer issues
• Support plant floor inspections and Dock Audits
• Develop and implement preventive actions for plant production processes
• Understanding of customer issues, development, communication, and ensuring adherence to Quality alerts
• Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
• Devise forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data
• Evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing
• Initiate and implement re-work instructions
• Prepare and submit PPAP per customer requirements
• Obtain PPAP approval for new product and process changes
• Perform/Support root cause analysis methodology using the 8D format
• Initiate claims to suppliers for defective materials
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Must have a professional demeanor.
• Must have good interpersonal skills.
• Must be computer literate proficient in Microsoft Works, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Must be able to professionally lead and influence peers

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the APQP process, knowledge of customer expectations, understanding of TS16949, understanding of inspection techniques, an understanding of problem-solving and continuous improvement techniques.
• Knowledge of PPAP, 8D methodology, supplier quality, quality tools, and customer's web-based systems.
• Experience in use of Quality testing equipment including but not limited to: depth gage, calipers, micrometer, tape measure, product gages, and CMM preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Math Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Computer Skills: Computer skills used to communicate and update databases as required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
