Senior Process Engineer

Description:
Position Summary

This position may offer telework flexibility.
• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications; Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global business unit.
• Understands the basic discipline work processes.
• Performs engineering tasks, within a discipline, having a minor degree of complexity.
• Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data from suppliers.

Responsibilities
• Monitors project controls within discipline.
• Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity, and prepares comments and recommendations.
• Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
• Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
• Receives technical and administrative supervision from an Engineering Supervisor.
• Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features and possible solutions.
• Assistance is furnished on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of acceptable methods and judgment.
• Contacts counterpart in other disciplines, supplier/client representatives and project field personnel when directed, to either gather or give information.
• Performs work, generally within one discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features.
• Participates in one or more of the following: Equipment design and development, System design, including concept sketches and layouts, Testing of materials, Preparation of specifications and design calculations, Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers, Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports, Preparation or review of material quantity estimates, Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools, Prepares letters for replies to vendor correspondence

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and six years of related experience. In lieu of a degree 12 years of related experience is required

Preferred Qualifications
• PE Preferred
• Experience as a process engineer at a major commercial, industrial, or nuclear facility
• Experience working on the design of nuclear or chemical process facilities
• Experience working on DOE or DOD government projects
• Prior WTP experience.
