Quality Assurance Engineer

The ideal candidate for this position will perform the following tasks:
* Coordinates with Subcontract Management Team, Procurement Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, the Suppliers and Industry experts to facilitate the design, production, test and qualification of aerospace and defense products.
* Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and parts/equipment availability.
* Investigates and recommends potential suppliers based on assessments of response to specifications, costs, inspection of facilities, and historical performance.
* Facilitate technical trade-offs and standardization that may lead to more economical procurement. Recommends design changes or process improvement to mitigate production issues.
* Leads teams of Supplier and internal staff in collaboratively solving problems in Producibility, Quality, Inspection, Cost, Mistake-Proofing, Test, Reliability and Affordability while based in supplier facility and customer site.
* Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
* Works under only general direction.
* Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
* Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
* Reports directly to the Lead Procurement Engineer and Procurement Engineering Manager.
* Provides surveillance and Quality Assurance direction to supplier while supporting the program needs.
* Reviews and approves Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW), technical specification, and supplier deliverables (SDRLs).
* Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
* Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
* Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
* Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
* May prepare bid packages. Onsite Quality Assurance representative on program assuring data trend analysis, lean practices, process improvement, operating procedure compliance, quality control, supplier surveillance, containment activity, supporting TKOs/RBATs/PACs, continuous improvement, configuration management, and root cause analysis following AS9100, ISO9001, ASQ, and CMMI.
* Works all market segment proposals with the Procurement Engineering Manager.
* The position is a tactical position driving strategy requiring the individual to execute with direct contact of product, suppliers, and customers.
* Analyze KPIs and data analytics to conduct supplier development efforts focusing on Master Production Scheduling, lean manufacturing, predictive risk, capacity planning/growth, inventory optimization, six sigma, and process maturity at supplier sites.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience:
* Technical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
* Must have ability to obtain a security clearance.
* Relationship development with IPT, suppliers, and customers.
* A strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
* Strong understanding of engineering requirements management.
* Experience with requirements management and flowdown to supplier.
* Must be able to identify and document supplier's quality deficiencies and ensure effective corrective action.
* Capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems. Understanding engineering drawings requirements mechanical and electrical inspection methods and design.
* A strong understanding of special processes and strong skill in managing and interfacing with suppliers daily to support the Program.
* Ability to focus on continual improvement practices using causal analysis tools to drive corrective and preventive actions
* Must have knowledge and understanding of critical design attributes and auditing/surveying capabilities.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Knowledge of material cost estimating and subcontract estimates.
* Skilled with DCAA audit and fact-finding interface.
* Proficient with Cost Accounting Standards and FAR cost principles.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
* SAP P2P and COS MRP; LM EPDM system; ASQ Certification or Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt/Black Belt)
* Experience with working with suppliers and US Military customers in a dynamic environment
* Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements
* Aircraft maintenance experience/knowledge and/or FAA A&P License and/or military Pilot/Loadmaster/Crew Chief experience
* Aircraft avionics and structure experience/knowledge
* Experience with source inspection and surveillance activities at suppliers to the SSOW
* Strong understanding in AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
* Knowledge of Reduced Dimension Drawings and 3D Models
* Problem solving and time management skills at a highly refined level
* Skilled in supplier recovery and development activity with experience in Subtier Management, Cellular Manufacturing, 5S, equipment utilization rates, Kaizen events, Industrial Engineering, FIFO, Lean, Configuration Management, Change Control, Requirements Management and waste reduction

* Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
* Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and to support all supplier quality field engineering activities.
* Strong communication skills (both oral and written) will be necessary to support the assignment and weekly reports.
* Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Suppliers, Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, Sub-contracts Management Team and Customer Government Representatives
* High energy, self-starting, team player who achieves goals and delivers results.
* Presentation skills: PowerPoint, supporting documentation, verbal communication, facilitation, leadership.
