As an Engineering Technician III, you will be using your skills and expertise to perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. You'll be responsible for constructing, troubleshooting, calibrating, testing, and maintaining our equipment, components, devices, or systems. You'll ensure our systems and components meet established specifications.
Shift Hours (subject to change): 1st: MTWTF 6:00AM 4:00PM 2nd: MTWTF 3:30PM 1:30AM 3rd: FSSM: F&M: 6:00AM 4:00PM; S&S: 6:00AM 6:00PM 4th: FSSM: F&M: 6:00PM 4:00AM; S&S: 4:00PM 4:00AM
General Needs in Level IIIs: 5+ years of experience; attention to detail; problem-solving skills Different Engineering Technician Groups in order of need: Thermal Protection (TPS): TPS tile: tile being installed on Dream Chaser vehicle; each tile (special ceramic) uniquely placed on vehicle using laser system Looking for folks who understand mixing 2 parts of poxies, vacuum bagging, load cells for pull tests REALLY need attention to detail here "arts & crafts" skillset it's a learned trade
Avionics/Electrical: Electrical background Responsible for fabricating and repairing harnesses Will be part of "Harness Group" Dealing heavily with wiring & cables, checking for continuity
Structural: Changing the configuration of something (airframe or part modification) Drilling, installing fasteners, seals
Mechanical: Dealing with nuts & bolts, thread pitches, understanding torque values Nice to have: understanding safety wire & safety cable, understanding hydraulics Folks on this side of things will be focused on main landing gear Fluids (no need for technicians here at this time): Orbital welding team
Required Skills:
Associate's degree in a related field of study and at least 4 years of relevant experience
A higher level degree may substitute for experience
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings, diagrams, schematics and manuals
Ability to work with standard laboratory test equipment, other measurement equipment, hand tools, and power tools
Desired Skills:
Previous experience and/or certifications within the aerospace and defense industry
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with AutoCAD or other 3-D CAD software
The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required
