Job Description Summary
The Information Services (IS) team helps employees' access, organize, analyze, manage and distribute information. IS optimizes the latest developments in information management strategies to support company innovation and competitiveness, delivering high quality, cost effective solutions across the global enterprise.
The Information Services team works with business partners across the enterprise ensuring that the right information gets to the right people at the right time to maximize the value proposition to support customers.
As experts in business and technical information management, IS employees ensure the proper management of information through the information lifecycle.
Team members at this level will be expected to perform subject analysis of content, application of controlled vocabulary to aid in search and discovery to support the information needs of the business. This employee will support and fulfill daily information architecture tasks and provide direction to subordinates on basic activities in completion of those tasks. This employee will support governance of semantic data as a strategic asset as well as provide and promote classification services across the enterprise for tagging of unstructured data
This role requires a high degree of accountability, integrity, motivation, discipline, energy, attention to detail displaying solutions-oriented thinking, communication, collaboration and problem solving skills. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter with moderate project management experience and display of skills that is able to facilitate cross functional teams in a dynamic environment where well-defined processes are sometimes lacking.
Responsibilities:
Provides detailed information to business partners regarding enterprise vocabulary standards and governance
Collaborates with cross functional teams throughout the enterprise to support the digital enterprise
Candidate must have basic ability to collaborate and integrate with other technical skills teams (i.e. developers) that support information modelling solutions.
Provides
Displays comprehensive knowledge of taxonomy and ontology development practices as well as basic linguistic structures
Demonstrates ability to set priorities and work individually and collaboratively within a diverse and changing environment.
Reviews and supports development of documentation and training materials on vocabulary management and semantic interoperability.
Assists in the development of enterprise standards for vocabularies and classification
Prepares statistical and narrative reports on controlled vocabularies and related activities by leveraging familiarity with industry best practices
Interest in professional growth and development to enhance skills and knowledge of current trends in information architecture and semantic interoperability.
Cultivates an environment of continual learning in information architecture including setting of best practices and business processes
Adheres to policies related to copyright compliance, global trade controls, global privacy and information protection in support of business requirements.
Collaborates with business partners to support long range business planning to meet vocabulary and classification requirements
Additional Skills:
Basic Qualifications (Required):
Experience in information architecture modeling principles, practices, industry applications and systems.
Candidate should demonstrate excellent oral & written communication skills as well as organization and time management skills.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (ex. Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).
Ability to provide customer service including the need to resolve "complex" or "multi-faceted problems" that may require research and/or interdepartmental collaboration.
Ability to support special projects displaying an aptitude for vocabulary management
2 + years of experience in vocabulary management, taxonomy, information architecture, data science, computational linguistics or applied computer engineering
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.
Desired Qualifications:
In addition to the basic qualifications above, it is desired that candidate should have solid experience in and knowledge of semantic modeling
Some experience in working with SKOS, OWL, SPARQL and RDF
Professional experience or demonstrated knowledge in aerospace, engineering, or another fields of science & technology.
Some experience or exposure with SPARQL
Some, experience or exposure to natural language processing and semantic artificial intelligence
Some experience with coding languages, especially XML and mark-up languages is strongly preferred
Some experience or familiarity with Windows CMD line / Powershell scripting
Advanced Excel proficiency; comfortable with manipulating and transforming data is desirable
Basic database or information management software application experience
Experience using project management methodologies, including developing project plans, performance management, and managing issues and risks.
