Stress Analysis Engineer

Description:
Seeking a first-rate aerospace Composite Stress Analysis Engineer with experience in vehicle stress analysis, repairs, and production manufacturing. The composite stress analyst will compile analysis, reports, models, and margins of safety into standardized formats for upload into TSC’s product lifecycle manager. Additionally, the analyst will support the design engineering staff with drawing release. The stress analyst is ultimately responsible for ensuring the vehicle structural design meets the customer mission requirements with positive margins of safety.

Your Mission

Responsibilities:
• Reviews, updates, and compiles engineering analytical definition of structural components and assemblies based on records from the prototype build project
• Develops standardized analysis criteria and templates
• Plays an integral role in the work flow release process for all structural designs
• Supports review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design and loads requirements
• Supports the creation of structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing
• Oversees and coordinates other Stress Engineer work and act as a Commodity Stress Focal.
• Handles Pre-and-Post flight structural NRIs for Fuselage Structure, reviews other team members work on NRIs assigned to them.
• Handles Inspection inquiries, requiests, and new inspection from VGMX team.
• Defines primary structures inspections as needed for flight test and EIS.
• Compiling and implementing tools, methods and procedures learned and implement with team.

What You Bring
Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a concentration in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Minimum 10 years of applicable experience in the analysis of structural systems using strength of materials and finite element based methods.
• Minimum 5 years experience with strong understanding of composites analysis, manufacturing and sizing of composite structures.
• Minimum 5 years experience with strong understanding of FEA models, including pre and post processing of NASTRAN models and associated sizing of composite structures.
• Minimum 3 years supporting Structural Tests with knowledge and practical experience on FEM/Strain gage data correlation.
• Experience with free-body diagrams and classical stress analysis techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Applicants must be “U.S. persons” as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)

Preferred Skills and Experience
• Hands-on experience with composites part fabrication and assembly processes.
• Proficiency in FEMAP a plus
• Pilot, aircraft homebuilding and rapid prototyping experience a strong plus
• Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA are highly desired
• Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems, such as Oracle, is a plus
