Your Mission: Manufacturing Engineer seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in fabrication of components and assemblies in development and production environments. We are looking for Engineers who can leverage their strengths in standard manufacturing practices and methods to develop efficient and effective solutions that can be easily deployed to the production floor/environment. You will be contributing to and supporting a team of Engineers and Technicians building rocket motor components and assemblies with cutting edge tooling. This includes being skilled at rapid iteration of process and work instructions delivered through technician feedback (continuous improvement). Your goal is to help establish and maintain a lean production environment that will be used to catapult Rocket Motor Production to support future Spaceship flight cadence This includes, but is not limited to the equipment, tools, systems, and materials required to create an efficient, organized, and lean factory that fabricates propulsion systems supporting Virgin Galactic's mission to open space for everyone. Basic Qualifications : Manufacturing Engineer
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution Experience working on shop floor with technicians/operators in a hands-on environment. Experience in process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation Familiarity with Quality Management Systems like TipQA Experience in tooling design across the product lifecycle including developing requirements, prototype design and validation Computer Aided Design experience (Solidworks 2+ years) Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings Familiarity with the use and implementation of design for manufacturing/assembly, design to cost, effective product lifecycle management, and product configuration management and control Strong team player and ability to work independently with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.15)
Preferred Skills and Experience: Manufacturing ENgineer
Desired experience level: 2+ years with Bachelor's degree Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing philosophies and tools Experience with shop floor layout planning and improvement Experience with deployment of manufacturing execution systems "MES" Experience with composite fabrication and assembly processes
Physical and/or Additional Requirements: Manufacturing ENgineer
Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed. Must be able to stand for extended periods 9 hours min. Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces. Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted).
