Description:
Job Description:
Leads the development and maintenance of engineering product definition. Oversees the development of design layouts and the modification of existing designs to satisfy customer and production requirements. Develops engineering product definition based upon Company requirements and parameters. Coordinates development of engineering product definition with internal/external parties to ensure compliance with applicable standards, requirements and design parameters as well as product functionality. Integrates work statement, work scope and work transfer packages with internal and external customers to requirements. Oversees, directs and integrates the completion of product definition across internal and external business partners and products to provide a functional end-product. Investigates and resolves complex manufacturing process or engineering related issues. Verifies accuracy of engineering data produced by others

Primary Responsibilities:
1. System Design:
- Collaborate with avionics engineers to design mechanical systems that house avionics components.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards (Boeing/AvionX/Wisk/FAA).
- Develop 3D models and CAD drawings of mechanical components.
2. Material Selection:
- Select appropriate materials that meet weight, strength, and durability requirements for avionics equipment.
3. Thermal Management:
- Design and implement thermal management solutions to dissipate heat generated by avionics equipment.
- Ensure that avionics components operate within specified temperature limits.
-Continuous collaboration between board designers on power dissipation estimates.
4. Vibration and Shock Analysis:
- Perform vibration and shock analysis to ensure avionics components can withstand the stresses of flight.
5. Mounting and Integration:
- Design mounting solutions for avionics equipment within the aircraft.
- Ensure proper integration of avionics components into the mechanical structure.
-Close collaboration with Wisk counterparts for Electronics bay changes (wiring/other LRUs)
6. Prototyping and Testing:
- Create prototypes of mechanical components for testing and validation.
- Conduct testing to verify the mechanical integrity and performance of avionics housing.
- Deign qualification fixtures
7. Weight Optimization:
- Work to minimize the weight of mechanical components while maintaining structural integrity.
8. Documentation:
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and compliance records.
-Support providing updated data to program configuration management team for release
9. Manufacturing Support:
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure that designed components can be produced accurately and efficiently.
10. Maintenance and Support:
- Provide ongoing support for avionics mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
11. Compliance and Certification:
- Ensure that all mechanical components meet aviation industry standards and regulations.
12. Project Management:
- Coordinate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to meet project deadlines and budgets.
13. Risk Assessment:
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with mechanical systems and propose mitigation strategies.
14. Safety:
- Prioritize safety in the design and maintenance of avionics mechanical systems.
15. Collaboration:
- Work closely with avionics engineers, electrical engineers, and other team members to achieve project goals.
16. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in avionics mechanical engineering and incorporate improvements into designs

Structural : Hypermesh , Nastran &Patran

Required Experience:
Mechanical engineering professional with experience in electronics packaging design
3D modeling, CAD, CREO, NX, KATIA program experience
Thermal and Structural Testing Experience

Strongly preferred:
CATIA preferred
Product lifecycle management
Additional Sills:
Skills: AA degree in related discipline and typically 6 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
