Propulsion Integration Design Engineer



The Propulsion Integration Design Engineer will be directly involved in the integration of propulsion systems for vertical takeoff vehicles. These existing and emerging vehicles provide opportunities for systems engineering, simulation and test of configurations and technologies that will shape the future of aviation. This position will be part of a team of engineers capable of executing in a fast-paced environment. This position will maintain compliance to best practices, customer and regulatory specifications, Bell procedures, program directives, and annual compliance requirements. This position is based at Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility.



QUALIFICATIONS



Position Responsibilities:

Selection, supplier coordination, integration, flight test and certification of propulsion systems in various VTOL aircraft designs.
Detail design and layout of propulsion systems using industry standards and best practices based on trade studies, research and analysis.
Coordinate with other engineering, manufacturing or specialty personnel to resolve problems.
Position Requirements:

Experience at all levels will be considered with a minimum of 5 years experience specific to the layout, design and certification of propulsion systems in some or all the following areas:
Turbine engine integration or turbine engine inlet and exhaust system development is preferred
Fuel systems
Environmental Control System (ECS)
Bleed Air System
Lubrication Systems
Rain Protection
Fire Detection/Suppression
Experience with AMESIM, GT Suite, ANSYS, or other flow analysis tool is preferred.
Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.
Must have the ability to prioritize a variety of assignments.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
PC proficiency in CATIA V5 or V6, other CAD software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred.


Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
Master’s Degree in the Engineering disciplines mentioned above is preferred.

Description:
The aerospace design checker supports various company projects and programs across the entire life cycle of design and development. Primarily focused on overseeing checking of PMI/Drawings plus management of the aircraft bill of material, including positioning components within the assembly and weight/CG management. This designer position requires close collaboration with the engineering design group supporting preliminary and detail designs of a general aviation electric aircraft.



Specific Responsibilities:

Work under close supervision of the CAD manager.
Support the engineering department checking and reviewing CAD solid models of airframe structural, mechanical, and systems detail designs of parts and assemblies employing metallic and composite materials.
You will check documentation of fabricated drawings, diagrams, Spec and Source Control Drawings, and assemblies to ensure conformance to design documentation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance Standards and design data supplied by engineering.

Description:
The Electrical Designer/CAD Drafter position will have emphasis on Aerospace Electronics Circuits.

Activities will include:
• conceptual layout,
• detailed design, and
• engineering documentation of complex multi-layer analog, digital, mixed signal, RF, high speed, and high-power PCB layout designs.
• Interfacing with other engineering groups to insure design requirements are fulfilled.

The position may involve direct interface with customers (internal and external) and suppliers in support of developing an understanding of the electrical design constraints. Responsibilities may include:

Description:
Position Purpose:
Under minimal supervision, independently prepare, conduct, and evaluate analyses for planning improvements and problem solving for manufacturing issues (production methods and procedures) in a specific function (including layout, production flow, tooling and production equipment, material fabrication, assembly methods and planning) in a Production or Post-Production environment.

Unique Skills:
Experience in a composite fabrication/bonding environment preferred.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform technical studies of a complex nature, conduct analysis of operations (existing or proposed). Prepare a report of recommendations for equipment needed and correct methods of manufacturing (including sequence of operations and detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations as well as detail components).
• Author detailed work instructions that optimize manufacturing process efficiency and opportunity for zero defects with functional Operations Engineer.
• Author DRDI/DMT rework instructions to support effective corrective actions.
• Author MBOM in SAP/Solumina/Corridor (as applicable) to ensure all parts defined by Engineering are installed during the assembly/installation process.
• Assist in make-or-buy proposals and recommend corrective actions for areas of responsibility; evaluate vendors, attend vendor negotiations, and assist in resolving vendor problems.
• Conduct research, investigation, and analysis in connection with assigned planning or other assigned projects, to ensure conformance to requirements.
• Investigate and assist in preparing justification for equipment and facility requests.
• Perform productibility studies from engineering drawings to identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing ability to meet requirements. Participate in Design for Manufacturing assessments with Engineering.
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential; make necessary computer inputs and generate data or reports as needed.

- BS degree and 5-10 year's experience as a Tool Design Engineer in a Manufacturing Environment required (Aerospace preferred). Willing to accept experience in lieu of degree.
- Strong Mechanical/Manufacturing Aptitude.
- Good understanding of assembly, machining and composite manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of tool fabrication processes including welding, machining, heat treat, etc.
- Good understanding of ANSI Dimensioning and Tolerances.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, CATIA V5 MBD (2000 hours minimum) experience preferred.
- Experienced in Lean manufacturing principles and strong aptitude towards implementing continuous improvement.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and good technical writing skills.
- Experience with tooling stress analysis in FEM and classical methods.
