Summary:

Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

Works under general direction.

Required Skills:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor).

5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

• Design hardware to assemble, install, and perform validation and verification testing of flight critical components and systems.  This will require working closely with the Airframe and Actuators, Propulsion and Avionics, and Software teams, to capture the nuances of the components, system architectures, and operating conditions, that define the design requirements for these projects.
• Develop full designs, drawing packages, BOMs, and assembly instructions for the above projects.  Additionally procure hardware from suppliers, and coordinate manufacturing with internal shops.
• Lead integration of designs and ensure that the systems meet the design requirements set out from the beginning.  This may involve on-the-fly modifications of designs to keep up with modifications to the hardware to be assembled, installed, or tested.
• Manage the project status and timelines for the Integration and Testing Design Team and collaborate with Team Lead to ensure proper resource allocation to de-risk the critical paths.
• Create and implement tools to maximize Design Team productivity.
• Manage the hardware needs of the Design Team and provide recommendations for investment.

• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline 
• 6+ years of work experience

Summary:

Seeking an experienced Composites Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of helping to manufacture a significant number of parts in a composite airframe and propulsion systems. Qualified candidates will be responsible for supporting the initial component builds and assembly of an Electric Vertical Take Off and Landing aircraft. Following components through their initial prototype phase all the way through assembly and vehicle integration.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with aircraft structures design engineers to provide manufacturing input during initial design stages. Design tooling for lamination, trim, and assembly operations, as well as manufacturing aids to help with day-to-day production; this includes conceptualization, material selection, vendor sourcing and final inspection. Develop composite processing techniques utilizing new approaches, materials, and tooling methods. Develop ply patterns (splicing, overlaps, staggers, flat patterns, .dxf exports, etc.) using CATIA's Composite Workbench. Create laser ply projection files for composite lamination builds. Support shop floor operations by working with continuous support of shop floor operations and oversight & programming of composite related equipment (laser projectors, ply cutting table, autoclaves, ovens and other auxiliary equipment). Assist composite technicians and clearly communicating design expectations. Design, set-up, and dimensionally inspect/interrogate assembly fixturing to support locating and bonding & fastening of large, complex, primary structure. Investigate root cause of failures or quality issues; develop go-forward approach. Interface with fellow manufacturing engineers, structures design engineers, engineering management, operations, shop floor personnel, and external vendors.

Required Skills:

Minimum of 4 years of professional industry experience. Undergraduate or graduate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or similar. Hands-on experience with composites materials and processing, exhibiting strong fabrication and assembly skills (demonstrated through past work or experience via a student team, internship, or personal project). Previous experience manufacturing a full vehicle including component and assembly levels with exposure to integration efforts. Understanding of composite part design, material properties, allowables and testing. Proficient with solid modeling and surfacing in 3D CAD Software. Strong communication and inter-personal skills.

Desired Skills:

Experience using CATIA V5/V6 and 3DExperience Software Suite. Experience using CATIA's Composite Workbench or FiberSim NX. Experience programming and handling autoclaves & ovens, laser projection systems, ply cutters, laser trackers and other dimensional inspection equipment. Experience with composite inspection (NDI) techniques and methods. Experience with high-rate composites manufacturing methods (fiber placement, resin transfer molding, compression molding, thermoplastics).

• Create test setups to validate the structural characteristics of primary and secondary aircraft structures (primarily composite) by working closely with the aircraft design teams to capture the nuances of aircraft design loads and operating conditions.

Summary:

This role will manage the overall technical execution of launch vehicle system development. Lead a team for developing products that will transition to production, manage upgrades/improvements, ensure qualification for flight, and support launch operations. Our product-based team will support the early development and definition, lead the design of critical hardware, develop operational plans and procedures, support tooling and fabrication design, manage risks, and work with assembly and operations personnel to test and deliver our systems within schedule and budget.

Lead, Electrical Engineer ROIC Design

We are looking for someone who has experience in designing custom readout integrated circuits (ROICs) in state of the art image sensors. As ROIC Designer, you will help specify and design analog and digital integrated circuit designs for readout ICs.

Essential Functions:

The ROIC Designer will serve as technical expert and point of contact representing ROIC expertise across multiple integrated program teams. In this capacity, responsibilities will include capturing requirements in formal documentation, interfacing with sub-contract design vendors, and contributing to design reviews. You will provide technical input to the ROIC design team while directly contributing to the design effort.

As a key member on a growing team, you will be involved in all aspects of design including block-level design and simulation, chip-level architecture and verification, layout and physical verification, and silicon validation and characterization. The ideal candidate will have ROIC-specific design experience and a demonstrated willingness to mentor other engineers.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship. Requires mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization. Proven ability to understand system-level performance requirement and reduce to ROIC chip-level requirements. Experience designing two or more of: High speed differential I/O, A-to-D converters, bias generation, analog buffers, serializers, readout pixel unit cells. Custom layout of Analog and Digital ICs from the block level to the top level. Cadence Virtuoso and Mentor Calibre verification software. Integrated circuit and electronics test and debug. Knowledge of common image artifacts and contributing factors. Knowledge of non-uniformity sources and correction methods, 3-D noise analysis. Familiarity with camera electronics and software. Documentation, communication and analysis skills.

General Duties: Responsible for developing installation requirements, technical information, airframe production installation/fabrication drawings, engineering instructions, and related production guidance materials as it pertains to the mechanical and structural aspects of a modification program.

Essential Job Functions:

Proficient in engineering design for aircraft modification programs; Proficient in designing details, assemblies, and installation drawings; Develop 3-D models and 2-D drawings to support the installation of mechanical and structural provisions; Capable of leading complex design task; Participate in engineering design feasibility studies; Participate in creation of stress analysis reports; Participate in internal design reviews;

Skills and Experience:

Two (2) years or more of aerospace engineering or design experience; Familiar with 3D CAD modeling and drafting software (SOLIDWORKS required), and FEA (NASTRAN or AutoCad preferred); Proficient with MS Office.

Education:

2+ years of aircraft design experience.

Must have knowledge of SolidWorks as a drafting tool.

They will be updating aircraft structural models based on analysis provided by Stress Engineers.

Must be capable of selecting materials (from a short list of allowable aluminum alloys) appropriate to meet or exceed the required material properties defined by the stress analysis.

Must be able to calculate edge and pitch distances for each fastener drawing update.

Working in Oklahoma City is necessary.

• Coordinate all activities related to the Computational Aerodynamics group.
• Delegate and organize resources to meet requirements of the functional projects.

• Oversee the development of novel meshes generation, with deformation and adaptation techniques, CAD-free and/or CAD-centered, compatible with in-house and/or commercially available grid generation packages.
• Ensure a balanced approach between proprietary, commercial and institutional software developments, including accompanying post-processing tools for efficient data processing.
• Oversee the development of complex CFD workflows applicable to aircraft designs, aircraft stability and control analysis, aerodynamic loads calculations and Multi-Disciplinary optimization (MDO and PMDO).
• Oversee scripting standards for launching applications on our High-Performance Computing network using a commercial queuing system.
• Supervise collaborative university research programs such as Industrial Research Chairs and Collaborative Research Development grants within NSERC, CRIAQ or MITACS funding organizations.

• You have a Master’s degree in Aerodynamics, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant industrial experience
• You possess a broad knowledge in the design of high-speed and high-lift configurations.
• You possess an in-depth knowledge in computational fluid dynamics and high-performance computing.
• You have programming skills (Fortran, C/C++, OPEN-MP/MPI parallel programming, shell/Python scripts) and knowledge of High-Performance Computing best practices.
• You have experience on at least 2 or more development programs.
• You have 5 years of management experience with direct reports.
• You are bilingual (French, English).

Position Responsibilities:

Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs of aircraft/spacecraft structural configuration layouts by:

Creating components or portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and support manufacturing operations.

Integrating vehicle systems.

Creating and releasing detailed 3D parts, assemblies, installations, and drawings.

Develop technical solutions to complex problems that require regular ingenuity and creativity.

Work independently and demonstrate conformity to industry and company standards, tolerances, weight and cost targets.

Coordinate with various engineering stakeholders during the design, production, integration, test, delivery, and operation of air/space vehicles.

Support production and operations teams to ensure vehicle readiness for flight. This includes involvement in fabrication, implementation, and MRB activities.

Participate in the continuous improvement of design practices, procedures, and technologies.

Assist authoring various manuals/templates such as design standard and best practices, procedures, and processes.

Mentor and participate in knowledge transfer/training of teammates.

Provide design engineering support by answering questions and requests from internal or external customers.

Prepare clear and concise reports that collect, analyze, and summarize information.
