Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Systems Engineer (Level 5) to lead the development and deployment of critical embedded spacecraft systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive systems engineering expertise, demonstrated technical leadership, and a proven record of delivering complex systems. This role is pivotal in steering the technical direction of our systems engineering efforts, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality and performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for systems engineering.
Provide guidance and mentorship to systems engineers and cross-functional teams.
Make critical design decisions and resolve technical disputes.
System Architecture and Design:

Lead the creation and maintenance of complex system architectures, designs, and models.
Define system-level requirements and translate them into detailed design and development tasks.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and compatibility of systems.
System Analysis and Trade Studies:

Conduct system-level analyses, including functional, performance, and safety assessments.
Perform comprehensive trade studies to evaluate design options and provide informed recommendations.
Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools to predict system behavior and performance.
System Integration, Testing, and Deployment:

Oversee system integration, testing, and deployment activities.
Develop and implement strategies to ensure optimal system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex system issues.
Process Improvement and Standardization:

Drive continuous improvement in systems engineering processes and standards.
Develop and implement best practices, tools, and methodologies.
Contribute to the creation and refinement of systems engineering policies and procedures.
Stakeholder Management and Communication:

Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams.
Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and technical meetings.
Team Development and Mentoring:

Cultivate a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team.
Mentor and support the career growth of systems engineers.
Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives and training programs.
Strategic Planning and Decision Making:

Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues.
Make data-driven decisions to optimize resource allocation and project prioritization.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years in systems engineering, with a focus on spacecraft or embedded systems.

Skills:

Proven experience leading complex system development projects.
Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience with advanced modeling and simulation tools is highly desirable.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment.
