Mechanical Engineer (Elevator or Automation experience)

Description:
The Mechanical Engineer will perform low to mid complexity research, design, and development of mechanical applications to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and ground test / mechanical tests. Additionally, responsible for the CAD support of design projects and execution of Engineering design changes.

Responsibilities
This person will technically lead various product development efforts from a design level including support of elevator verification and validation.

The scope of activities may include component trade-studies, design and development of mechanical components, DFMEA analysis, etc.

This position will also provide product support for a variety of elevator components and systems utilizing interpretation of models, drawings, and wiring diagrams to identify root cause for complex problems and develop innovative solutions.

Participation in technical reviews and audits of components and systems will also be required. This position requires interaction, planning and coordination including cross functional teams spanning from engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, contracting and field personnel.

Education / Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical discipline with 3 to 5+ years’ experience
• Master's degree in Mechanical discipline with 1 to 2+ years’ experience

Experience/Qualifications
• Elevator or similar industry (automation) experience preferred
• Understanding of system layouts and performance of weight-driven components
• Understanding of system performance envelopes (“duty tables”) based on component limitations
• Good electrical understanding is a plus (wiring diagrams, motor and control applications)
• Experience with design, development, and test of electro-mechanical systems
