Position Purpose:

A Product Engineer has knowledge of design, tooling, and manufacturing processes to take an existing build package and make it more efficient to construct in Manufacturing. Tool Designer II

Description:
Under minimal supervision, design complex tools and equipment used in the manufacturing and support of company products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Design and draft tooling and equipment used to manufacture and support of company products.
2. Perform liaison with Tooling, Engineering and production as required.
3. Review and check Tool Designs, as required, to ensure conformance to specifications, original intent, proper methods and procedures.
4. Write procedures on use of tools.

Additional Functions:

1. Assist Tool shop as needed, during Periodic and Conformity Inspections.
2. Assist in formulating Tool Design policies, procedures, and specifications as required.
3. Perform other duties as required.

Other Requirements:

1. Must possess strong drafting, math, and technical writing skills.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of materials, material strengths and uses, Tooling purchased items, and heat treat methods/specifications of materials.
3. Ability to conceptualize the following with minimal supervision. Assembly tooling, Composite tooling, Machine tooling, handling equipment, and scaffolding.

Experience/Education Required

Bachelor�s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Three (3) years drafting/design experience to include documented experience in a tool shop or machine shop environment. Three (3) years Tool Design experience. One (1) year CAD

    Tooling Designer

    Description:
    Hands-on Tooling assembly and design, process and procedures Place PR for masters or tools for supplier fabricated tooling Schedule and track all supplier delivery dates Determine CNC in-house / outsource capabilities Upload tool history and release tools in Agile Stamp tool orders for tools falling into tooling specifications with no OOT conditions Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    Utilizing CAD or 3D software for inspection (one or more of the following):
    oPC Demus, Verisurf, Geomagic, Polyworks, Spacial Analyser, or similar Review tool designs in CAD or 3D software (one or more of the following):
    oPC Demus, Verisurf, Geomagic, Polyworks, Spacial Analyser, or similar Use a wide variety of precision instruments for exacting measurements while working from complicated drawings and specifications Assume responsibility for quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy Ensure tool room work area remains clean and orderly Follow all proper safety procedures Participate in 'Continuous Improvement Process'
    Plan and repair maintenance of the molds Complete any other tasks required by manager.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
    3-5 Composite Experience
    Be able to handle pressure, interruptions and meet deadlines Must be able to work flexible working hours Strong interpersonal and team building skills Fabricate parts using machine tools and hands on skills Use gages to determine dimensional requirements Excellent organizational skills and problem solving skills Catia v5 proficiency as well as standard Microsoft products Strong team player Experience with large aircraft assembly and inspection a plus Metal shop skills (welding, grinding, machining, etc) a plus

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
    Preferred 5-7 years Tool Design Experience
