Environmental Health and Safety Specialist I

Description:
Review OSHA safety, emergency preparedness, environmental, industrial hygiene and hazardous material programs and implements to site level standards. Review and audit site programs for compliance.
Complete EHS evaluations for new projects and equipment modifications.
Investigate incidents and complaints of employees regarding safety, health, environment and industrial hygiene, ergonomics, etc. and make recommendation(s) for improvements as appropriate.
Develop and conduct EHS training as needed (New Employee Orientation, Respirator, Lockout / Tag out (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Electrical Safety, and Machine Guarding).
Perform follow-up and ensure closure of safety and health recommendations as assigned by manager.
Support Emergency Response Team (ERT), training and response for both sites.
Perform various safety and environmental inspections for EHS Programs such as; Storm water, SPCC, Hazardous Waste, Spill Response, SCBA, slings, ladders, safety compliance.
Coordinate hazardous material shipments and complete environmental and hazardous material regulatory reporting with manager oversight.
Responsible for chemical hazard awareness, hazmat shipment oversight and contractor safety programs
