Description:
Mechanical Design Drafting Support Position Responsibilities:
Create and/or refine innovative and practical opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical layouts using Solidworks 3D CAD software.
Develop clean documentation packages and design records which includes maintaining change
records and revision control.
Generate fabrication and assembly drawings, bills of material, and maintain revision control of project documentation.

Mechanical Design Drafting Support Position Required Qualifications:
8+ years of design drafting work experience.
Formal training in design drafting and GD&T highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in SolidWorks 3D CAD, document management tools and techniques (PDM), and revision control practices.
Ability to assess and apply geometric tolerances in complex and precision hardware assemblies.
Ability to research data that is required to further develop designs using historical precedents,
manufacturer's catalogues, and technical guides. Successfully combines findings with preliminary information to contribute to establishing final designs.
Familiarity with MIL specs and aerospace standards for specifying materials, hardware, and finishes.

Mechanical Design Drafting Support Position Preferred Qualifications:
Design experience packaging and documenting products containing optical elements, structures
and electronics for space and airborne environments.
Experience in hardware design for severe shock, vibration, and thermal environments.
Experience routing cables in 3D CAD assemblies.
Design of bonded assemblies (especially optical mounting) and experience with design for
adhesive applications.
Military and defense related hardware design work.
Hardware design experience for space or vacuum environments especially with selecting materials based on outgassing properties and contamination control.
DTUPC, DFT, DFM methodologies and experience.
