is responsible for analyzing airframe structures for stress and strength requirements, material selection, stiffness

Position Responsibilities:
- Apply basic engineering principles/concepts to complete tasks under the supervision of the technical lead engineer
- With technical oversight, applies scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the outcome and
consequence of design, in terms of stress, strength, life, stiffness, and weight

Description:
The Airframe Structural Analysis Group is responsible for the structural integrity of the airframe fuselage, landing gear and propulsion installations and all other attachments to airframe fuselage, including electrical, controls and dynamic systems attachments.

Responsibilities cover composite and conventional structures and extend from conceptualization on through development, manufacturing and field service support.

Specific functions include: Static structural analysis and Margin of Safety determination, fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis of critical interfaces, determination of airframe component replacement and / or retirement times, specification and design of airframe related static and fatigue tests, field support and formal engineering documentation.

Education requirement: B.S.in M.E., A.E. or C.E., M.S. or M.E. preferred

Work Experience Required: Minimum of 6-8 years experience in the functions described above. Strong familiarity with Finite Element Modeling of airframe structure for static and fatigue purposes. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Software Experience: NASTRAN/PATRAN or equivalent FEM, Catia, MS Office applications.

Secret Clearance preferred but not required.

Seeking an aircraft non-destructive test (NDT) engineer with experience in composite materials, processes, and production manufacturing including out of autoclave processing. This job is for a Senior Level Structural Strength (Stress) Analyst for the Air Mobility and Maritime Missions program supporting the C-130, LM-100J, C-5, and P-3 aircraft responsible for performing stress analysis on new and modified designs to validate that positive margins of safety exist for all failure modes under all operational and design criteria loading conditions. Job entails conducting strength analyses for primary and secondary structure and mechanisms, providing support to production during airframe manufacture, and substantiation of structural repairs for fielded aircraft. This individual must have a significant amount of experience conducting classical hand analysis of aircraft structure for various failure modes.
