Assigned Duties

  • Perform repair of detail components by filing, stoning, lapping and polishing.
  • Using power and hand tools for drilling, sanding and riveting.

  • Adhere to all EH&S requirements, FAA & EASA regulations, company rules, policies, procedures and corporate initiatives.

  • Must be competent in the use of torque wrenches and have a complete understanding of SAC torque specification SS9300.

Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician-Several Shifts

Description:
Position Purpose:
The Sheet metal Technician Senior works under minimal supervision to safely lay-out, fabricate and install parts equipment and fabricated items on aircraft following established operating procedures. All work performed should be in accordance with company design specifications, quality standards and completed work should meet customer expectations. Mentor and train other Sheetmetal Technicians.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Use complicated schematics/blueprints, engineering drawings and technical instructions to safely perform sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment or fabricated items on aircraft. Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality specifications.
2. Mentor and train Sheetmetal Technicians, as required. Review their work prior to sign off to ensure work complies with quality control standards.
3. Oversee projects or other technicians and assesses requirements of assigned tasks to procure required. materials and documentation for assigned tasks.
4. Use blueprints to cut and form plastics and follow standard operating procedures when using adhesives, sealants and solvents.
5. Utilizing tools as required. to shape and form complex angles and configurations according to blueprint specifications or written/verbal information.
6. Safely operate shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet metal functions. Use the proper hardware for various sheet metal applications.
7. Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Uses personal protective equipment as required. Ensures aircraft is protected (PTP).
8. Conduct monthly 5S audits, as required.
9. Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.
10. Assist in developing initiatives to meet individual OGSM requirements, as required.
 
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required. Four (4) years of sheet metal and/or fabrication experience. Experience in aerospace industry preferred. Valid Driver’s License required.

Engineer – Aircraft Structural Modification Support

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Structural Modification Support Engineer in Lexington, MA. 

Aircraft Structural Modification Support
2. Background/Need
Group 108 works to understand air defense issues, in particular, air vehicle survivability, vulnerability of U.S. Air Force (USAF) aircraft to weapons systems, electronic countermeasures, and air surveillance for homeland defense. The focus is on understanding USAF and threat air defense systems through tests and measurements. Test activities include flight, field, and laboratory testing. We operate three airplanes, all highly instrumented and numerous ground systems as needed for test efforts. We also develop new hardware for testing and prototype systems as well as for instrumenting existing sensors. Group 108 requires for one full time Engineer to support the aircraft structural modification project.
3. Position Scope/Job Functions
Candidate will be responsible for the management of a multi-year transformation of a Gulfstream IV-SP into the next Airborne Sensor Test Bed (ASTB). The project entails major airframe modifications including fuselage and wing strengthening, the integration of under wing / centerline instrumentation pods, nose and tail electromagnetic and optical sensors, a sonobuoy or dropsonde release system and major electrical/data infrastructure. Candidate will participate in overseeing vendors performing the necessary aircraft modifications and ensuring that the work is properly executed, documented and delivered on schedule. Support will also include design and conduct of a flight test program to demonstrate compliance with modifications specifications and to obtain FAA approvals for continued operations. Related work will include establishment of a configuration management program and documentation archive to support the aircraft throughout its life.
4. Skills: Required
- Direct program management experience of significant aircraft structural modifications
- Experience with sensor and or mission system integration to turbine powered aircraft
- Experience in the design and conduct of flight test programs for certification of major modifications

The Interior Installation Technician II works under general supervision to remove, install, and/or fabricate aircraft interiors, which may include items such as trim, carpet, sound proofing, light structure, cabinetry, panels and other accessories. All work performed should be in accordance with company design specifications, quality standards and completed work should meet customer expectations. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

Essential Functions: 1. Safely perform aircraft removal, installation, and/or fabrication of aircraft interiors (which may include galleys, closets, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, doors and panels). Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with Repair Station procedures, internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality specifications. 2. Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work. 3. Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as hand tools, band saws, shears, sanders and brakes. Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools. 4. Prepare and install aircraft interior items in accordance with company operation procedures and quality standards. 5. Remove and re-install nut plates, inserts and other fasteners used in aircraft interiors. Apply proper use of hardware and fittings on aircraft installations. 6. Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment as required. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk. 7. Assist technicians, under supervision, with aircraft maintenance requirements. 8. Adapt to sudden schedule changes. 

Additional Functions: 1. Work with lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that reduce cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques. 2. Make and use simple patterns for own use employing standardized procedures. 3. In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required. 4.
