Certification Engineer

Description:
Responsible for defining and overseeing implementation of certification engineering requirements for United Rotorcraft, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) and engineering activities. Responsible to derive, define, and apply design requirements from the regulations for implementation by technical staff. Prepare and completion of Compliance Checklists, Certification plans, Conformity Inspection Plans, and compliance summaries for assigned Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects. Work effectively in a multi-disciplined environment of structures, mechanical/electrical systems, and avionics commonly found in aircraft certified under 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 25 and 27, and in US Military aircraft. Significantly impacts the company’s ability to consistently meet regulatory, commercial, and technical obligations utilizing strong problem solving skills.

• Review previously produced certification documents, drawings, technical data, and test data as benchmarks for preparation for preparation of future documents.

• As a member of the design team (project engineer, functional lead, and certification engineer), coordinate and finalize the preparation of certification documentation per project compliance check list. This includes, but is not limited to, Structural/Mechanical/ Electrical/Avionics Compliance documents, Standard Parts Lists, Commercial Parts Lists, Test Plans, Test Reports, ICA’s, RFMS’s, etc. Participate in preparation/revision of configuration control drawings, listings and indexes, and flammability requirements as required.
• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical from four-year college or university, or five to eight years’ experience in an authorized repair station working directly with records required to alter, repair, maintain and return-to-service 14 CFR part 25, part 27, and/or part 27 aircraft.
• 5-8 years analysis, design and development experience in aviation field or equivalent and related military experience preferred.
• 3-5 years’ experience performing tasks consistent with Certification Engineer 2 or equivalent experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the FAA certification process, with familiarity and experience with 14 CFR and Department of Defense (DOD) regulatory requirements preferred
